    Overview

    Play video

Vcinity Next Gen Ultimate X (ULT X) is a high performance and distributed data access and movement solution, enabling users to near-instantly access data, no matter where it lives. Designed for high-latency and long distance environments, Vcinity lets you quickly and securely send large volumes or varieties of data and/ or allows your applications to remotely access faraway data.

Deployed as nodes creating sets of hubs and spokes, Vcinity acts as a pipeline to move and use data across hubs/cloud(s)/edges over existing WAN and infrastructure. It is easy to integrate, presents itself as a simple shared storage tier to applications using industry standard NFSv3/NFSv4/SMB interfaces. Next gen ULT X AWS supports up to 10Gbps throughput.

    WHEN TO USE VCINITY:

Vcinity is built to connect your data to workloads that cannot wait. Here are a few examples of how enterprises and agencies use our data access and/or movement solutions:

1/ Use the data movement capability for workflows like:

    • Regular/ recurring data transfers over distance or latency (e.g. sending data across country, avoiding couriers, moving encrypted data across the globe)
    • Cloud or region migrations
    • Edge ingest
    • Backup and recovery
    • AI (data acquisition for training, re-training, model deployment to the edge)

2/ Use the remote data access capability for workloads like:

    • Enabling remote workers/ talent (e.g. VFX artists remotely edit media files, global engineering teams work on single simulation file (e.g. CFD, etc.))
    • Burst-to-cloud (additional compute capacity while data stays in place)
    • AI (inferencing, RAG, distributed training, federated training)
    • Near real-time analytics (e.g. compute and take action immediately on data sitting thousands of miles away)

    OTHER DETAILS:

For all instances: Includes up to 10Gbps (up to 100TB per day) and 1TB ULT X File System (FS) license.

Vcinity is app-, cloud-, and WAN-agnostic, and ULT X offers flexible deployment options to fit your bespoke enterprise infrastructure needs.

On premise, ULT X is available in software (bare metal, KVM, ESXi) and scale-up options for higher throughput.

    Highlights

    • Two great capabilities in one solution: a/ high-speed data transfer (up to 76x faster than traditional TCP without Vcinity) and b/ remote data access (real-time access to faraway data you do not want to or cannot move)
    • Predictable, performant data movement and access at scale: a/ 99% faster time to ingest data, b/ 90%+ sustained end-to-end bandwidth utilization, c/ 1PB of data transferred in <24 hours
    • AWS validated: Variably-sized data transfers from on-prem east coast to cloud (us-west-2), with acceleration from 6.4x (mixed datasets) to 76x (small files) faster transfer than traditional TCP. View more details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq6bOzmmX5U

    Dimensions summary

You pay by the hour for each running virtual machine, based on the AWS instance type you choose. All twelve options are memory-optimized r8 family sizes across three variants: r8i, r8in, and r8a. Within each variant, pricing scales with instance size, from 8xlarge up to 24xlarge, so hourly cost rises as you add compute and memory. You need one instance per site to form a data corridor between locations. The amount of data you move or access does not change the hourly rate. Choose the variant and size that fit your throughput and workload needs.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

Each running virtual machine on your chosen r8 instance type is billed by the hour. You need one instance per site to form a "bookend" data corridor between locations. So a two-site setup requires two instances, each metered separately by the hour.
No. You are billed only for instance-hours based on the r8 instance type you run. Once an instance is running, you can move or access as much data as you want with no impact on the hourly rate. Data volume does not meter.
All three are memory-optimized r8 family types billed hourly. The r8in variant adds network-optimized bandwidth over r8i. The r8a variant uses a different processor architecture. Within each variant, sizes run from 8xlarge upward, and hourly cost rises as compute and memory increase.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
