Overview
Overview
MTC delivers professional services for migrating SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business One workloads to AWS. The engagement covers the full project lifecycle — from landscape assessment and architecture design through system conversion, data migration, and production cutover — with post-go-live support included.
MTC has completed SAP-to-AWS migration projects across manufacturing, distribution, agriculture, and professional services sectors. The methodology addresses both greenfield implementations and brownfield system conversions, supporting customers who operate on legacy on-premises infrastructure, co-location facilities, or alternative cloud environments.
Scope of SAP Products Supported
- SAP S/4HANA — System conversion from SAP ECC (EHP 6+), new implementation on AWS, and selective data transition (landscape transformation). Covers SAP S/4HANA on-premise edition deployed on AWS infrastructure.
- SAP Business One — Version 10.0 on SAP HANA and Microsoft SQL Server. Full environment migration including application server, database layer, add-ons, and integration middleware.
Migration Scenarios
| Scenario | Description |
|---|---|
| Lift & Migrate | Homogeneous system copy from on-premises to AWS with infrastructure optimization |
| System Conversion | In-place conversion from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA during or after migration to AWS |
| Selective Data Transition | Landscape transformation using SAP tools (SUM/DMO, SWPM) with data consolidation |
| Greenfield on AWS | New SAP S/4HANA or SAP Business One implementation directly on AWS infrastructure |
Delivery Methodology
-
Discovery & Assessment — Document the current SAP landscape: system versions, database platform, custom code volume (for SAP S/4HANA conversions: ABAP custom code analysis via SAP Readiness Check), integration topology, data volume, and user concurrency. Deliver a migration readiness report with effort estimation.
-
Architecture Design — Define target AWS infrastructure per SAP sizing guidelines: EC2 instance selection (SAP-certified), EBS storage configuration, network topology (VPC, subnets, security groups), high availability design, and backup/DR strategy. Architecture aligned to AWS Well-Architected Framework for SAP.
-
Build & Migration Execution — Provision target environment, execute database migration (via SAP SWPM, SUM/DMO, or backup/restore), migrate custom code and configurations, re-point integrations, and conduct iterative functional testing and performance validation. Production cutover executed within a defined maintenance window.
-
Go-Live & Optimization — Post-migration performance tuning, SAP Early Watch Alert configuration, monitoring setup (Amazon CloudWatch integrated with SAP Solution Manager or SAP Cloud ALM), knowledge transfer to the customer operations team.
Highlights
- **Reduce TCO** - Eliminate capital expenditure on hardware lifecycle management. AWS consumption-based pricing replaces fixed infrastructure commitments. SAP-certified EC2 instances (x2idn, u-series for HANA) deliver validated performance at lower operating cost than equivalent on-premises deployments.
- **Global Operations** - Deploy SAP subsidiary landscapes across 30+ AWS Regions. Standardized landing zone templates allow new-country rollouts in weeks rather than months — with regional data residency requirements addressed at the infrastructure layer.
- **Foundation for Innovation** - AWS-native services (Amazon SageMaker, Amazon QuickSight, AWS Lambda) integrate with SAP via standard APIs and SAP BTP connectivity. Enables advanced analytics, process automation, and machine learning on SAP transactional data without modifying the core ERP.
