The Building Stock Database (BSD) provides county-level estimates and forecasts of the stock of floor space and number of buildings (or dwelling units for residential) for 15 types of nonresidential and residential buildings.

    Overview

The Building Stock Database (BSD) provides county-level estimates and forecasts of the stock of floor space and number of buildings (or dwelling units for residential) for 15 types of nonresidential and residential buildings. The data is in annual totals from 1970 to the present with a forecast for the next five years. This database was first built in 1985 using benchmarks for the floor space in place at that time and annually since then new square footage created from new construction and building additions has been added each year. A demolition factor is also applied to take into consideration square footage lost from the inventory. The BSD can be used and input for measuring building-related demand for energy year over year. It can be useful in estimating the size of the replacement market for various building materials and can be used for determining new markets to enter based on their existing stock of floor space by structure type.

    Dimensions summary

This listing uses a single pricing dimension called Product Access (Units). It is offered at no cost, so there are no tiers, usage add-ons, or size-based options to compare. Subscribing to this one dimension grants you access to the sample building stock data. Because there is only one option, pricing does not scale with usage, quantity, or term. You subscribe to the free Product Access unit and gain entry to the sample dataset.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

One unit grants access to the sample building stock dataset. This is a sample dataset, not the vendor's full construction database. Subscribing gives you entry to the sample data at no cost. There are no seat counts or usage meters to track.
No. This listing has one free dimension, so cost stays flat regardless of how much you query, export, or view. There are no tiers, overage points, or usage thresholds that trigger added charges. Access does not scale with quantity, term, or activity.
This is a sample building stock dataset, so it represents a portion of the vendor's data rather than the full commercial construction intelligence offering. Use it to evaluate the data format and content before considering a broader engagement. Contact the vendor for details on the complete dataset.
