You pay by the hour for running Ubuntu 24.04 - Noble on your chosen EC2 instance. Each dimension maps to one specific EC2 instance type, so pricing is not tiered into plans. Instead, you pick the instance that fits your workload. Options span general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, GPU, and high-performance families, across sizes from small shared instances to bare-metal servers. Rates scale with the size and capability of the instance you select. You pay only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit map to for this listing?
Each dimension maps to one running EC2 instance of the named type, billed per hour. One unit is one instance-hour. The rate reflects that instance type's size and capability. Larger instances and bare-metal servers carry higher hourly rates than small shared instances. You pay for each instance you run, per hour.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue this hourly software charge. Underlying AWS fees, such as storage for stopped instances, may still apply separately. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
Can I run different instance types at the same time?
Yes. Each instance you launch bills independently at its own hourly rate for its type. Running several instances of different types adds each one's hourly charge to the same invoice. Your total reflects the sum of all running instances and their hours.
