Pulse Secure® Virtual Traffic Manager - Essential Edition (formerly Brocade virtual Load Balancer) is a high-performance Layer 7 Load Balancer that enables you to create, manage, and deliver key services more quickly, more flexibly, and at a lower cost. Highly portable, it can be deployed in any major cloud or hybrid environment. Pulse vTM - Essential Edition is much more than a simple load balancer. In addition to round robin or least connection load balancing with session persistence the Pulse vTM - Essential Edition can be configured as a Highly Available Cluster, providing advanced Application Health Monitoring and Analytics, SSL Offload, Protocol Offloading, Session persistence, REST, and SOAP API integration as well as Content Routing. The Pulse Secure Web Application Firewall module is available via other AMIs, and there are more advanced versions of the Traffic Manager available as your needs change. Please search for Pulse Secure to see all options. Note: Only the 18.3 version (or later) can be deployed on the nitro instance types.
Highlights
- Speed: Accelerate services, increase capacity, and reduce costs by offloading performance-draining tasks such as SSL and compression onto Virtual Traffic Manager's optimized implementations.
- Reliability: Improve application availability by intelligently distributing traffic, avoiding failed or degraded servers, monitoring performance problems, and shaping traffic spikes. Provide HA via active-active deployment.
- Ease of management: Virtual Traffic Manager makes it easy to manage how users interact with applications and the infrastructure those applications depend on.

Trustworthy Load Balancer
I've used this load balancer in another cloud for 5 years, and now I'm using this in AWS for one of our apps. We had some issues using AWS ELB for this specific app, and we had to get our own load balancer set up.
I took the opportunity to experiment with some of the other ones available in the marketplace, and this is by far one of the more refined and reliable load balancers here. I enthusiastically recommend this product.
Fun fact: AWS ELB uses this technology under the covers. They've been doing so since this product was owned by the folks at Zeus way back.
