Your hourly cost scales with the instance size and family you choose. You add EC2 infrastructure charges separately. All options deliver the same Level 1 foundational hardening; only the underlying compute capacity differs across dimensions.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly rate covers the hardened Ubuntu 24.04 LTS software license for one running instance of that EC2 instance type. It does not include the underlying EC2 compute, storage, or network charges. AWS bills those infrastructure costs separately on the same invoice.
The software rate meters running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the hardened image license bills active running time.
Every option delivers the same Level 1 foundational hardening. The rate differences reflect the compute capacity of each EC2 instance type.
