This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for hardening.
This AWS-based ec2 comes pre-configured with the latest Ubuntu 24.04 LTS image that is optimized for security, featuring advanced hardening measures to help protect against vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry best practices.
This configuration includes stringent access controls, regular updates, and robust settings to enhance overall system integrity and resilience.
Implementing this foundational hardened image can help organizations establish a baseline level of security and reduce their risk exposure to common cyber threats. However, it's important to note that these benchmarks should be considered as a starting point, and organizations may need to customize them based on their specific security requirements and risk profile.

You pay by the hour for this hardened Ubuntu 24.04 LTS image, billed per running instance. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, each rate maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type. The many options span general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and high-memory instance families in sizes from small to very large. Your hourly cost scales with the instance size and family you choose. You add EC2 infrastructure charges separately. All options deliver the same Level 1 foundational hardening; only the underlying compute capacity differs across dimensions.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover — the software license, the EC2 server, or both?
Each hourly rate covers the hardened Ubuntu 24.04 LTS software license for one running instance of that EC2 instance type. It does not include the underlying EC2 compute, storage, or network charges. AWS bills those infrastructure costs separately on the same invoice.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software rate meters running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the hardened image license bills active running time.
Why do the hourly rates differ so much across the listed options if the hardening is the same?
Every option delivers the same Level 1 foundational hardening. The rate differences reflect the compute capacity of each EC2 instance type. General-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and high-memory families in varying sizes carry different hourly rates. You choose the instance type that fits your workload.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Ghost is an open-source professional publishing platform that runs on Node.js - a modern editor, themes, built-in memberships and email newsletters, and a full content and admin REST API. Unlike bare Ghost AMIs that ship with no TLS, the admin panel exposed over plain HTTP, and a database you must install and secure yourself, this Lynxroute build is ready out of the box: a unique database password at first boot, TLS terminated at nginx with the application bound to loopback only, a bundled MySQL 8.0 bound to 127.0.0.1, update-check telemetry disabled, UFW firewall pre-configured, and a CIS Level 1 hardened Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base.
MIT license - fully auditable, no vendor lock-in.
A high-performance, production-ready Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base image. Pre-hardened to CIS Level 1 benchmarks for immediate compliance, stripped of unnecessary packages and fully supported by Clearscale.

Harbor is a CNCF-graduated container registry that stores OCI images and Helm charts and adds vulnerability scanning (Trivy), image signing, and role-based access control. Unlike bare Harbor AMIs that ship with the well-known default admin password, expose the registry over plain HTTP that Docker clients reject, and leave the host firewall open, this Lynxroute build is ready out of the box: a unique admin password generated at first launch, HTTPS enabled automatically with a self-signed certificate, the registry and database bound behind the host TLS edge, UFW firewall pre-configured, and a CIS Level 1 hardened Ubuntu 24.04 LTS base.
Apache-2.0 license - fully auditable, no vendor lock-in.
