You pay by the hour for a hardened Rocky Linux 9 image running on the AWS EC2 instance type you choose. Each dimension maps to one instance type, so there are no separate plans or tiers. Pricing scales with the size and family you pick. General-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage, GPU, and bare-metal families are all available. Larger sizes within a family carry higher hourly rates. You run this software charge alongside standard AWS infrastructure fees. The hardening follows recognized security baselines, and the same image applies regardless of which instance type you select.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get for the hourly charge on each instance type?
You get one running instance of the hardened Rocky Linux 9 image on the AWS EC2 instance type you selected. The size and family you pick set the compute, memory, and storage profile. The software rate is added to the standard AWS charge for that same instance type.
Am I charged the hourly software fee when my instance is stopped?
The software fee meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay standard AWS storage fees for attached volumes while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How does the hourly software charge combine with my AWS infrastructure costs?
Two charges apply at the same time. The software rate here covers the hardened Rocky Linux 9 image. Separately, AWS bills you for the underlying instance, storage, and data transfer. Both appear on your AWS invoice. The instance family and size you choose drive the software rate.
