Each hourly rate covers the OpenCart software running on one AWS EC2 instance of the type you pick. The instance defines the CPU, memory, storage, and any GPU capacity. Different families target different needs, such as burstable, compute, memory, storage, or GPU workloads. You run one instance per hourly charge.
The hourly software charge accrues only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software meter counts running time only.
You pay for whichever instance type is active. Switching to a larger or specialized instance raises the hourly rate because it provides more compute, memory, storage, or GPU capacity. Switching to a smaller type lowers it. The change takes effect when you launch the new instance; you manage this yourself.
