Data Product Workbench: AI-Ready Data Products on AWS
The Data Product Workbench is an AI-assisted accelerator for delivering governed, production-ready data products on AWS. It reduces delivery timelines from weeks to days. Thoughtworks pioneered the data mesh and the data-product pattern, and this engagement puts that experience to work. You describe a business use case and provide sample data, and our teams design, build and deploy a full set of governed data products on your AWS platform.
AWS-Native Architecture
The Workbench runs natively on AWS. It deploys data products to Databricks on AWS, with governance, lineage and data quality applied by default, and it provisions using AWS services including Amazon ECS on AWS Fargate, Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, AWS Secrets Manager, Amazon ECR, Elastic Load Balancing, Amazon VPC, Amazon Route 53 and AWS Certificate Manager. AI-assisted design agents generate machine-readable specifications based on the open Bitol standards, the Open Data Product Standard (ODPS) and the Open Data Contract Standard (ODCS), so the products we build are standards-based and owned by you. Every data product is ready for AI from day one. Built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) output ports expose governed data products to AI agents, including agents built with Amazon Bedrock and any MCP-compatible agent, with no custom integration work. Governance means every consumer, whether a person or an agent, sees only the data they are entitled to.
How It Works: Engagement Phases
The engagement is expert-led. It moves you past proofs of concept to a repeatable, paved-road way of scaling data products across domains. You start with a single use case and expand as value is proven. Requirements analysis, data modeling and pipeline work that used to take weeks are compressed into days, and every product lands with the same governance and quality standards.
This engagement is billed through AWS Marketplace. AWS resources that the Workbench provisions in your account, such as Amazon ECS, Amazon RDS and networking, may incur AWS charges that are separate from your AWS Marketplace transaction. You are responsible for those infrastructure charges.
