Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.

This listing bills you by the hour for AlmaLinux 8 on ARM-based instances, with support included from the vendor. You pick the instance type that fits your needs, and the hourly software rate follows that choice. Options span several instance families, including general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and graphics-capable types. Within each family, sizes range from small (such as nano, micro, medium, and large) up to larger multi-xlarge and bare-metal configurations. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates because they provide more compute, memory, or storage. You pay only for the hours each instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing represent for these instance types?
One hour equals one running ARM-based instance for one clock hour. Each instance type meters separately at its own hourly rate. If you run several instances, each one accrues its own hourly charge. Partial hours follow standard AWS metering for the instance you launch.
Am I charged the software rate when an instance is stopped?
The hourly software rate applies only while an instance runs. Stopped instances do not accrue this software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage on a stopped instance, but the AlmaLinux software rate meters running time only.
Does the price change if I switch to a different instance type?
Yes. Each instance type carries its own hourly software rate. When you launch or resize to a different type, billing follows that type's rate for the hours it runs. Larger types cost more per hour because they provide more compute, memory, or storage.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
