You pay by the hour for the software running on an AWS EC2 instance. The many options here are not feature tiers. Each one maps to a specific EC2 instance type, which sets the compute power, memory, and hardware behind the software. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates because they provide more vCPUs and RAM. You pick the instance that fits your workload. The setup defaults to a t2.xlarge instance with 4 vCPUs and 16 GB RAM. Billing runs only while the instance is active, so cost scales with your usage.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit represent, and what compute do I get by default?
Each unit is one running AWS EC2 instance charged per hour. You choose which instance type to run, setting the vCPUs and memory behind the software. The default is a t2.xlarge with 4 vCPUs and 16 GB RAM. You can pick a larger or smaller instance type at launch.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. Underlying AWS storage fees may still apply to a stopped instance, but the software meters running time only. Cost scales with active hours, so shutting down when idle lowers your bill.
Do I pay extra AI API fees on top of the hourly instance charge?
The tool ships with a local model setup, so you can run models on the instance without recurring external API charges. You pay only the hourly instance rate for that usage. If you connect paid third-party model providers instead, those providers bill you separately, outside this listing.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Open putty, paste the IP address and browse your private key you downloaded while deploying the VM, by going to SSH->Auth, click on Open
login as ubuntu.
run below command to set the ubuntu user password.
sudo passwd ubuntu
Now the password for ubuntu user is set, you can connect to the VM's desktop environment from any local Windows Machine using RDP protocol or Linux Machine using Remmina.
From your local windows machine, goto "start" menu, in the search box type and select "Remote desktop connection". In the "Remote Desktop connection" wizard, copy the public IP address and click connect
This will connect you to the VM's desktop environment. Provide the username "ubuntu" and the password set in the above "Reset password" step to authenticate. Click OK
Now you are connected to the VM's desktop environment via Windows Machine.
The vm will generate a random password to login to Open Notebook Web Interface. To get the password run below command from ssh terminal
Now copy paste the public Ip of the VM in your local browser as https://public_ip_of_vm. Please make sure to use HTTPS and not HTTP. Provide the password you received in above step and login to the web interface.
