SSH or user-data editing required
Admin dashboard: create, disable or delete VPN users and their devices,
view connected peers, last handshake, bytes transferred and uptime
Self-service user portal: each user signs in with their own account to
download a ready-to-import config file or scan a QR code from their phone
Local accounts out of the box, or single sign-on through your own
identity provider: OIDC (Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace,
Auth0 or any compliant provider) or LDAP / Active Directory, with
users provisioned on first sign-in or pre-created by an admin

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Try this product free for 5 days according to the free trial terms set by the vendor. Usage-based pricing is in effect for usage beyond the free trial terms. Your free trial gets automatically converted to a paid subscription when the trial ends, but may be canceled any time before that.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance type you choose to run the VPN Server. All 26 dimensions are the same software billed on different AWS instance sizes. Pricing scales with the instance's compute, memory, and CPU family. General-purpose (m5, m6i, m7i, t3, t3a), compute-optimized (c5, c6i, c7i), and memory-optimized (r5, r6i) families are offered. Within each family, larger sizes (large, xlarge, 2xlarge) cost more per hour. Smaller t3 sizes (small, medium) fit lighter workloads. You match the instance to your expected user and traffic load.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for the hourly instance charge — how is one billable unit defined?
One billable unit is one running EC2 instance-hour of the VPN Server AMI. You pay for each hour an instance runs, at the rate set by the instance type you launch. The software runs on the AWS instance you select in your own AWS account.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when the instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running instance-hours. A stopped instance does not accrue software charges. AWS may still bill underlying storage or IP costs while stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How do I choose which instance type to run, and can I change it later?
Match the instance to your user count and traffic. General-purpose families suit balanced loads, compute-optimized families favor heavier throughput, and memory-optimized families favor larger memory needs. You can stop an instance and relaunch on another type. Optional S3-backed backup lets a replacement instance recover users, devices, and the server key.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
