Overview
AILA Insurance Data Lake is an opinionated, enterprise-grade implementation of the AWS Guidance for Modern Insurance Data Lakes — built for Lloyd's managing agents, London Market carriers, US P&C and Life carriers, MGAs/coverholders, and reinsurers.
4–8 weeks to production MVP — functioning data lake plus first data migrations, delivered through a phased SOW. The solution addresses the structural problems insurers face: legacy core systems (Duck Creek, Guidewire, Majesco, AS/400-era platforms, Verisk Eclipse) holding decades of business data in disparate formats; regulatory complexity (NAIC, Solvency II, Solvency UK, FCA, Lloyd's, GDPR) demanding auditable lineage from source to report; rising AI investment without a governance foundation. As 99% of insurers invest in data and AI capabilities, AILA provides the substrate.
Declarative configuration deploys medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold or RAW/STAGE/ANALYTICS), serverless orchestration (Step Functions + EventBridge + SQS), automated data quality validation, OpenLineage capture, and platform-level audit trail. Pre-configured data models cover policy lifecycle, claims processing, and customer 360. The standard Lloyd's managing-agent reporting suite is supported (Loss Ratio Tracker, Pricing KPI, Profitability Insights, Solvency UK, Trust Funds, Cat Event Tracking).
Ingestion patterns supported. Verisk Eclipse (on-prem ingestion via SQL Server; AWS-direct as Phase 2 roadmap for customers committing long-term). Spreadsheet-to-platform promotion (governed pipelines, schema captured, S3-versioned, lineage-tracked). MGA platform integration (Eclipse MGA, VIPR Intrali, Insureflow) and file-server document migration (slips, binders, correspondence into S3 with classification) available as roadmap engagements. Bidirectional integration for actuarial reserving environments scoped as a subsequent wave.
Non-invasive — alongside, not rip-and-replace. The lake sits next to the carrier's existing core systems, lets them keep running, and becomes the unifying layer across legacy systems that were never designed to talk to each other. FSI agents prebuilt in the AILA catalog: a code-engineering specialist (PySpark transformations, actuarial calculations, risk scoring) and advisory agents covering FCA ICOBS, UK Building Regulations, HSE construction safety, Environment Agency flood zones. Aligned with AWS Well-Architected across all six pillars. AWS FSI Competency. AWS Marketplace and Service Partner accredited (EMEA + AMER). Open-source foundations (Parquet, Iceberg). Deployable in eu-west-2, us-east-1, and other AWS commercial regions.
