Highly portable, it can be deployed in any major cloud or hybrid environment. It controls & optimizes end-user services by inspecting, transforming, prioritizing & routing application traffic. Pulse vTM inspects & processes application traffic with full payload inspection & streaming. It applies a range of optimization techniques to ensure that incoming requests are presented in the most appropriate manner to the web & application servers. Responses from the application can be compressed, cached & returned to the client at optimum speed, freeing up resources on the server. Built-in TrafficScript language gives you full control over how individual requests are optimized, routed & transformed. Traffic management rules may also be created using Java™ Extensions. Pulse vTM includes a web-based admin interface to display powerful real-time analysis & history for all traffic across Traffic Manager clusters. You can integrate into remote management & event monitoring frameworks using SOAP APIs & SNMP. A Web Application Firewall module is available via other AMIs. You pay by the hour for the Enterprise Edition traffic manager, rated at 1 Gbps throughput. The software price stays the same across all options; what changes is the AWS EC2 instance type you run it on. You pick from many instance families, including compute-optimized (c4, c5, c5n), general-purpose (m4, m5, m5d), memory-optimized (r4, r5, r5d, x1, x1e, z1d), storage-optimized (i3, h1), and FPGA (f1) types. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates because they provide more CPU, memory, or storage. Billing scales with usage hours and your chosen instance size.

Am I charged for the software when an EC2 instance is stopped?
Software charges meter running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. You may still owe underlying AWS storage costs for the stopped instance's volumes, but the traffic manager licence bills only while the instance runs.
What do I actually get for the hourly rate on a given instance type?
Each hour buys one running instance of the Enterprise Edition traffic manager rated at 1 Gbps throughput. The instance type you select sets the underlying CPU, memory, and storage. The software rating stays at 1 Gbps regardless of which instance family or size you pick.
How do the software charge and the instance size combine on my bill?
Two charges apply together each hour: the software fee and the AWS instance-hour cost for your chosen type. Larger instance sizes raise the hourly total because they add CPU, memory, or storage. Both charges accrue only while the instance runs and appear on the same invoice.

In order to locate the randomly generated password required during the initial setup process, please right-click the AMI in the AWS console, select 'Monitor and troubleshoot' > 'Get System Log' and scroll to the bottom of the resulting System Log screen. You will find the password there,which is to be used for connecting to the instance via https://<publicDNS>:9090 for performing initial setup or for doing ssh i.e command line access to the instance.
