Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you choose to run this software. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so your cost scales with the compute capacity you select. The t2, t3, and t3a options cover general-purpose workloads across large through 2xlarge sizes. The m3 and m4 options span large through 16xlarge sizes for heavier compute needs. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs. Choose a smaller size for lighter workloads or a larger size when you need more capacity.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate bundles the Prometheus software with security hardening and vendor support from Hossted. You can connect the deployed instance to the Hossted Platform for real-time monitoring, automated updates, and analytics. AWS charges for the underlying compute and storage apply separately from this software rate.
The software rate meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly software charge. Note that underlying AWS storage tied to a stopped instance may still incur separate AWS fees. Only running time triggers the per-hour software charge on your chosen instance type.
There is no separate tier to upgrade. Each dimension is a specific EC2 instance type billed per hour. To get more capacity, you launch a larger instance size, such as moving from a large to a 2xlarge or higher. Your hourly charge then reflects that new instance type.

After deployment, you can access your application at http://<public IP>. (It might take up to 15 minutes to be available post-deployment). The machine is accessible via SSH, default username: ubuntu. Where relevant, app login credentials are available on message of the day (and /etc/motd).
