Overview
What Is GPL Breeze VDI? GPL Breeze VDI is GPL Technologies' streamlined cloud workstation offering — a purpose-built, fully managed deployment of AWS NICE DCV and Leostream Connection Broker for media and entertainment studios. Breeze is designed for productions and facilities that need cloud-native VDI fast, without the overhead of a full infrastructure overhaul. Whether you're spinning up a remote artist team for a production, overflowing on-prem workstation capacity to the cloud, or piloting VDI before a larger migration, Breeze provides the fast, clean path. WHAT WE DEPLOY Core VDI Stack • AWS NICE DCV session servers on EC2 GPU instances (G5, G6, P4, or P5 family) • Leostream Connection Broker — session lifecycle, pool policies, smart reconnect, and user entitlement • GPU instance right-sizing per role (compositor, generalist, colorist, editor) • AMI hardening, OS configuration, and DCC application pre-installation Identity & Access • Active Directory or Azure AD integration • SSO / SAML 2.0 configuration for broker authentication • MFA enrollment and conditional access policies • Per-user or per-group GPU pool entitlement rules via Leostream Storage Connectivity • Amazon FSx, EFS, or S3 mount configuration for shared project storage • NFS/SMB integration for hybrid on-prem/cloud storage access • Persistent home directory mapping per artist session Network & Security • VPC, subnet, and security group configuration scoped to VDI workloads • AWS Session Manager or bastion-less access patterns • TLS certificate management for NICE DCV connections • Optional: VPN or AWS Client VPN for secure artist access Artist Onboarding • NICE DCV client deployment guide and artist documentation • Leostream web portal configuration for self-service session launch • Training for IT and production management staff DEPLOYMENT OPTIONS New VDI Environment GPL builds a net-new Breeze VDI environment in your AWS account — network, compute, broker, identity, and storage — ready for artist access. Cloud Overflow / Hybrid Extension Add cloud workstation capacity alongside your existing on-prem infrastructure. GPL integrates Leostream to manage both environments through a single broker. Pilot Deployment Start small — 5–20 seats — to validate workflows before committing to full rollout. GPL scopes a fixed-fee pilot engagement to get you live fast. WHO IT'S FOR • Productions with remote artists needing GPU-backed cloud workstations • Post-production facilities hitting on-prem workstation capacity limits • Studios piloting cloud VDI before a broader AWS migration • M&E companies evaluating NICE DCV as a replacement for legacy VDI platforms SUPPORTED APPLICATIONS Tested and tuned by GPL for: • Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, MotionBuilder • Foundry Nuke, Katana, Mari • Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve (GPU-accelerated color grading) • Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects • Autodesk Flame, Smoke • SideFX Houdini • AWS Deadline Cloud (render submission from VDI workstations) MANAGED SERVICES (OPTIONAL) GPL offers ongoing managed services for Breeze VDI environments — including session monitoring, GPU pool scaling, broker health checks, patch management, and artist helpdesk support. Available as a monthly retainer post-deployment.
