You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen AWS EC2 instance. There is no upfront commitment. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, so the rate reflects the compute size and hardware you select. General-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and GPU or accelerator instances are all available. Larger instance sizes and specialized hardware carry higher hourly rates. You scale by picking a bigger instance or launching more instances. This lets you match cost to your workload, from small development setups to large production deployments.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover on this listing?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick, billed per hour. The rate covers the Ubuntu 24.04 GUI software licence on that instance. You choose the instance type, which sets the compute, memory, and hardware you receive for that hourly rate.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS fees, such as storage for the instance volume, may still apply while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How do I scale cost if my workload grows?
You scale two ways. Launch a bigger instance type for more compute per instance, which carries a higher hourly rate. Or launch more instances of the same type, each billed separately per hour. Both approaches let you match spend to development or production needs.
