Options range from small burstable instances like t2.nano, t2.micro, and t3.micro through general-purpose sizes such as m3, m4, and m5 large. Compute-optimized c3, c4, and c5 large and memory-optimized r3, r4, and r5 large instances are also available. Larger t2 sizes up to t2.2xlarge give you room to scale. You pay only for hours used.

What am I paying for beyond the software, and what does the maintenance support include?
You pay for the Yara software running on Ubuntu 26.04, plus vendor maintenance support. The vendor provides updates, monitoring, backups, and performance tuning around the clock. The hourly software charge is separate from the underlying AWS compute and storage fees you pay to AWS.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. When an instance is fully stopped, the software charge does not accrue. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are billed by AWS, not through this software licence.
Why does the hourly rate differ across instance types like t2.nano and t2.2xlarge?
Each rate maps to one running EC2 instance of that type. Larger instances carry more vCPU and memory, so their hourly software charge is higher. Compute-optimized c-series and memory-optimized r-series sizes are priced separately from burstable t-series and general-purpose m-series. You pick the type that fits your workload.
