    Overview

Solar is a 5G Core product developed by China Telecom Intelligent Network Technology Co., Ltd. and operated by China Telecom Global Corporation outside of mainland China. Solar provides 5GCore elements based on 3GPP standards, providing functions such as access and mobility management, authentication management, session management, user-plane data forwarding, QoS control, and network slicing. Solar also provide customised functions for vertical industries such as industrial manufacturing, transportation & logistics, energy & power to meet the different requirements of users in various industries. We have developed tools for automated deployment and operation, so that you can easily complete the deployment and operation of all core elements of 5G private network in about one hour after purchase (the deployment of base station and the connection between the base station and the core network should be implemented by you). We also provide an intelligent network management system that allows you to operate and manage the network on your own.

    Deployment details of Solar(5GC)

    1. 5GC is deployed in customer-specified AWS regions (required to be in the supported Region list of this product)
    2. The solution includes 5GC Control Plane, User Plane UPF and EMS. Both 5GC and EMS are deployed containerized based on Amazon EKS, while UPF is deployed as an EC2 instance based on a virtual machine image.
    3. The solution uses multiple Subnets (subnets) in a single VPC to deploy 5GC nes. Both the Amazon EKS control plane instances and workload plane instances share multiple private subnets in the same VPC. Control plane instances need to run in multiple availability zones (AZS) by default to ensure high availability of the control plane. The 5GC, UPF, and EMS are deployed in the same VPC, availability zone, and Subnet.
    4. Since the working node running 5GC Pods needs to implement multiple network planes, it can only run in the subnet cluster of a single availability zone (AZ). The multus subnet providing multiple network planes must also belong to the same availability zone.
    5. For the convenience of external access to the EKS cluster, you can create a public subnet, start a Bastion Host, and enable Internet access through AWS IGW (Internet Gateway).
    6. The working nodes of Amazon EKS, that is, the EC2 instances for running NE Pods, are created using a managed node Group, which is automatically created through AWS ASG (Auto Scaling Group). It dynamically creates EC2 instances based on the maximum and minimum number of instances configured on the ASG, and maintains the expected number of instances.
    7. Using the AWS side-to-side VPN service, you can establish a network channel between an external network and an AWS VPC, so as to realize the network communication between 5GC nes running on the AWS public cloud and other services (such as base stations and UPF) running on non-AWS networks.
    CloudFormation Template (CFT)

AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
