The cloud transformations of the last decade have provided organizations with the ability to innovate faster than ever before but without proper attention Technology and Finance can quickly become out-of-sync, impacts of cloud workloads can become costly in inefficient, and not well understood.

A design sprint is the starting point to help your organization address these challenges and ensure that your cloud estate is a source of increased business success.

The design sprints run over 5 days: Map - Structured conversations bring focus for the week, and establish a common understanding of the goals. Sketch - Participants provide opinionated solutions for the problem space. Decide - The working group decides on the best solutions and converts them into a plan for the prototype. Prototype - The team builds a prototype ready for collecting feedback, and collates data for building the business case. Test - The prototyped is demoed to stakeholders, and the business case is presented.

Through a combination of AWS tooling, such as Cost Explorer, and bespoke Contino tooling, by the end of the fifth day you will be able to better measure and understand the cost, and cost efficiency of your estate with actionable insights into the most impactful improvements to improve these metrics.

The insights can include: How to reduce management costs through automation and migration to managed services, such as serverless Techniques to better attribute and allocate cost to revenue streams of workload owners Rightsizing existing resources, in terms of type, size, and number of a resource used The most cost-efficient pricing model for your workloads Identifying and terminating redundant resources across the estate, both compute and data Forecasts to better understand future and ongoing cost How to delivery teams to understand the impact of their systems and enable decentralised improvement and innovation

As part of the working group, Contino provides an experienced facilitator and an expert AWS architect. Combined with a small working group of architects, engineers and product owners from your business, we collectively build a roadmap based on industry best practice that is specific to your business, context and domain.
