High availability design has simplified managing clustered servers and improved uptime

    Reviewed on Jun 25, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for LoadBalancer Enterprise is for high availability, as we always have primary and secondary servers. When one is down, the second one is good to handle the load. Instead of providing two IPs or two DNS, we put a load balancer IP, and the load balancer will automatically switch over to either one. We also use it for traffic distribution, particularly for routing based on API hits.

    What is most valuable?

LoadBalancer Enterprise offers two types of load balancers: application-based and traffic-based. This is the main feature, allowing it to route based on traffic and server. It always sends data to one server, and once that is down, it picks the second.

We rely more on server-based routing in our environment because we work with many servers for important tools such as Splunk, Cribl, and Dynatrace. We always have standby servers, so if the primary encounters an issue, we can easily route our traffic to the active secondary server in our active-passive scenario.

LoadBalancer Enterprise has a good user interface, making it easy to manage, and the failover functionality is also impressive. The product itself is very stable.

LoadBalancer Enterprise has positively impacted my organization by allowing me to manage my Splunk cluster indexers with 10 servers behind one load balancer. I don't need to remember all 10 IPs, and I can easily add new servers to the group managed by the load balancer.

This approach has reduced many errors. Previously, when a server went down, it took a long time until someone reported it. Now, we achieve about 99% availability across all servers thanks to the health check feature in the load balancer.

    What needs improvement?

LoadBalancer Enterprise is a very stable product that meets our needs. If they could reduce the prices, it would be beneficial.

Documentation needs improvement because having information is essential for working with advanced configurations. Advanced features in AWS settings could also be better documented, and reporting and analytics could be made more advanced to offer better traffic insights.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using LoadBalancer Enterprise for almost six or seven years, as I use it in all the companies I work for.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

LoadBalancer Enterprise is mostly seamless; however, if both servers are down, we need maintenance. In 90% to 99% of cases, I can say it is seamless.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

LoadBalancer Enterprise is easy to scale, maintain, and modify, which makes adding or removing servers a simple process.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support is good; generally, we don't need much support since the product is stable, but they respond immediately when we do reach out. I rate customer support a 10.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We didn't use any other solutions prior to LoadBalancer Enterprise, although I was aware of F5, we decided against purchasing it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't know about the pricing since I never personally purchased it; the setup cost is cheap and licensing is also reasonably priced.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Incredibly Fast, Thorough Support That Saved Our Load Balancer Recovery

    Reviewed on Apr 23, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I ran into an issue with our secondary load balancer after an upgrade, and the response was both incredibly fast and very thorough. After I emailed Tech Solutions and the suggested steps unfortunately didn’t work, a call was arranged very quickly. I had two techs on the call, and eventually a third, more senior engineer joined, which I really appreciated.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to save the second load balancer, but they offered to help me set up two brand-new ones. Due to the nature of our business, we weren’t able to facilitate that at the time. Instead, when I asked, they provided the current OS from our primary server so I could recover the second load balancer. Excellent service all around!
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing at all. The only thing I couldn’t find was any specific commands beyond the standard Linux ones that I could use. That said, it wasn’t really an issue, since I went through everything with tech support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We rely on the load balancers for our Aderant billing system, which is the backbone of our company. Getting the second one up and running so quickly was brilliant.

The load balancer can be downloaded as a VM and imported directly into your Hypervisor of choice. The security updates can be be completed online.

Most importantly the support responds timely !
What do you dislike about the product?
The solution is based on KVM and so it seems to be stable. I would update as it operated in the live environment
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We required the load balancer to address load balancing at the web server level and the application level whilst maintaining sticky sessions. We have implemented in the test environment and soon be rolling out to production

Outstanding Load Balancer Quality and Support

    Reviewed on Feb 26, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Load Balancer products for several years now and we are completely satisfied with the quality of the products and especially the quality of the support team. Support has been outstanding during the few times we needed help with our WAF. The WAF is easy to use and just runs constantly without causing us any problems. It was easy to integrate into our network due to the collaboration between Metaswitch and Loadbalancer.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have any dislikes regarding our Load Balancer. It works exactly as we expect and rarely needs any maintenance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had quite a lot of hackers trying to access our Metaswitch before installing our Loadbalancer WAF. Sometimes a few were successful at retrieving config files from our Metaswitch. Since the WAF was installed, we have not had any further issues with hackers.

    Load Balancer support team

    Reviewed on Sep 08, 2025
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The load balancers themselves have worked well, and whenever there are questions on specific functions for some new implementations, their support team is very responsive, knowledgeable, and friendly. There are times when you need to work off-hours and their support team have helped me through these times. I've had to contact them through new load balancer additions, configs on new additions, and most recently upgrades that needed a new cert, each time working with support has made the process flow smoothly and easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
During some maintenances for a VIP, draining the connections can take some time with certain configs, would be nice if it was quick for all types. I'm sure it could be resolved by reconfiguring the VIP but changes like that aren't high priority since its just during maintenance windows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps us load balance our applications and services with high uptime. This helps also with any maintenances, and upgrades that may be needed. Running an Active and Passive set also helps with redundancy and high uptime for our critical applications.
