What do you like best about the product?
The details of the insight you get about the application scanned to plan for migration to Cloud. CAST Highlight analysis of the application source code can provide deeper insights on specific actions needed to develop a detailed roadmap and execute the Applications modernization roadmap. Details insight into the code quality and offers excellent boosters. CAST suite of tools improves Application Modernization and Application Management capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a tool I really champion. I am pleased with the company development Strategy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CAST HL provides additional insights to create a better-informed roadmap for cloud adoption, information to prioritize applications moving to the cloud, and a better understanding of risks and blockers to move to the cloud. CAST HL provides practical insight to initiate the actual cloud implementation

it's not a security scanning tool. It doesn't perform well to find vulnerabilities

Cast : quick scan of a whole set of applications (= portfolio) to see how to migrate them to the cloud (XAAS)

What do you like best about the product?
The comprehensive language support and the speed of which to scan code repositories to quickly understand cloud migration blockers and accelerators.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the insights are very useful, the ability to add additional patterns/detection might be beneficial, especially for highly customized and legacy applications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to accelerate gaining the relevant technical insights into the codebase so we can pair the technical data with mission/business factors to have a quick but comprehensive cloud migration assessment and rationalization upfront to enhance cloud migration roadmapping and execution

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The tool is helping us assess the quality and maintainability of our codebase as we scale the engineering organisation. It also helps our infosec team track the license compliance of open source libraries used in the software and assess any potential security vulnerabilities.

The scanning process is straightforward; the CAST Highlight portal can provide many different insights and is highly customizable. CAST Highlight's public API can help you leverage CAST data in your own application and allows automation of the processing of scan results.

API does not yet contain all information
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are leveraging CAST Highlight during Software and Tech Due Diligence projects, in the course of M&A-related transcations. Here CAST Highlight allows us to gain access to evidence about a target's codebase without directly accessing the code ourselves. This is a crucial differentiator for us and allows us to move fast, have a low footprint and gain confidence from all parties involved.

I love it, however you need some technical skills to fully take advantage of the full potential

What do you like best about the product?
There are two top things that I like about CAST ( Highlight ):
1. Ease of use;

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing comes to mind. I did not experience any issues nor do I dislike anything about Highlight at this time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary problem solved was understanding the level of effort to migrate a portfolio of applications to Cloud. In a period of a couple of weeks, we were able to analyze a portfolio of around 100 applications and identify: overall software health compared to industry benchmarks, vulnerabilities and risks as well as blockers and boosters. Based upon this understanding, we were able to prioritize the efforts by building associated business cases for each application. This ultimately led to evidence-based, informed decision making.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, on the cloud, graphical, excellent documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Missing some connector integration. Integration with Jira is complex.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Very easy to sunset part of the application because you see all connections.
