Comprehensive endpoint visibility and multilayer security have strengthened compliance and protected removable media in critical environments
What is our primary use case?
There are multiple use cases for MetaDefender Endpoint. The main one is a compliance check and system compliance check. The second one is for removable media control into the OT domain, and network access control as well.
How has it helped my organization?
Multi-layered security is important for my company. It gives you an advantage that your data and your system are going to be scanned with multiple anti-malware engines. Starting from the endpoint security, your endpoint is going to get secured, and if it connects to your enterprise network, you will have complete visibility. You need continued visibility of your endpoints, whether those are clean, whether their applications are patched, or whether there is no vulnerability.
When it comes to the metrics that reflect my impact on the endpoint security strategy, first of all, it is visibility of your endpoint. For complete endpoint protection, visibility is crucial. It will also allow you to control the applications, what to run and what not to run; that is significant for managing the endpoint's attack surface. You can easily catch the threats and control the foreign device connections such as removable media and USB, CD, DVD, and all those things as well. Altogether, it is going to be complete endpoint protection and visibility.
What is most valuable?
I work with the data sanitization feature, including USB.
When it comes to data integrity, it is not meant for data integrity; it will modify your data. It will not look into your content, but it will look into embedded objects, such as hyperlinks, scripts, and any other embedded object, macro, and images. It will remove that potential malicious content, sanitize the hyperlink, remove the macro, sanitize the embedded objects, and remove the scripts if they are attached in your document to prevent you from zero-day attacks.
MetaDefender Endpoint has an excellent malware detection feature; it has around thirty plus different anti-malware engines, so the detection ratio can go up to ninety-nine point nine percent.
The vulnerability assessment feature definitely helps to address system vulnerabilities. You will have visibility of the vulnerability, and it is a continuous assessment. You will get complete visibility of your environment and of your endpoint.
What needs improvement?
The negative aspect is that it only provides visibility; you require integration with multiple products to get complete control. If it provided certain built-in features, you could more easily control the endpoints. Another point is that multi-scanning and sanitization work over the network; even though no one is providing this feature, it can be difficult for organizations, especially those with a multi-branch and multi-layer enterprise network. For small scale enterprises, it is going to be a very good use case.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the product for around four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
MetaDefender Endpoint is extremely stable.
The availability is good; it is pretty simple and pretty stable. There are no major issues, just here and there some operational challenges, but otherwise, the product stability is good.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support from the vendor is good.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
Installation and deployment are pretty easy.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It is affordable; it is not that expensive.
What other advice do I have?
