Cloud platform design has improved my industrial projects and supports flexible learning

    Reviewed on Jun 24, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

I have worked on Ignition Cloud Edition for almost six months. Mainly, I wanted to learn it, so it was a learning phase. I haven't used it at an application level.

My main use case for Ignition Cloud Edition, even if it's just in my learning phase, was that it is a very interesting cloud platform. It was very much feasible. It can interface to multiple types of controllers and also with RTUs. I see that its application can be used in other applications which is much more comfortable than other available platforms. It is very easy to use and very easy to interface.

I had a controller of Schneider TM2 series, so I tried to interface it with Ignition Cloud Edition platform during a trial version, and it was much more comfortable. The design part impressed me very much. The standardization of colors, the availability of different Symbols and other things, made it much easier. The tagging and taking the data from the controller was easier.

    What is most valuable?

Till now, I have tried to do some simple projects on my own. I haven't applied it anywhere but I tried to create an assembly line simulation. I have simulated an assembly line scenario and have tried to make an IG system.

Based on my experience, the best features Ignition Cloud Edition offers include good connectivity and the availability of all the controllers. I can also create a mobile platform. The integration was pretty easy. Whatever I created in the cloud, I can also see in the mobile platform much more easily if I have a tab or such interfcaeThe integration seems pretty nice with good resolution.

The user interface of Ignition Cloud Edition, which I found interesting, is pretty much neat and doesn't have bloatware. It is similar to what I have seen in DCS, but it is much easier. Regarding scalability, Ignition can be scaled to any extent. I can use it for smaller purposes as well as integrated projects. It seems easy to start with a small part of the assembly line initially and then build it to cover the entire assembly line. I can even integrate it with the MES system and ERPs and other parameter monitoring systems available now.

    What needs improvement?

I feel that I'm still in the learning phase regarding Ignition Cloud Edition, but my concern is about cybersecurity. Those who use Ignition Cloud Edition extensively may have sufficient security, but since it's a cloud platform, the chances of countering cybersecurity attacks will be a major concern. Since everything is under a single node, how many layers of security there are will be a concern.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for nine to ten years.

What other advice do I have?

Although I have not used Ignition Cloud Edition in an organizational environment, I spent time learning and exploring the platform on my own. Based on that experience, I found it to be a capable and modern solution that offers the flexibility of cloud deployment while reducing the need for managing on-premises infrastructure. The platform appears well-designed and provides a strong foundation for industrial automation and visualization projects.

Advice for Organizations Considering Ignition Cloud Edition:

I would recommend that organizations thoroughly evaluate their requirements, integration needs, and long-term scalability goals before adopting Ignition Cloud Edition. Running a pilot project or proof of concept can help validate performance, usability, and compatibility with existing systems. Organizations should also consider factors such as network reliability, security requirements, and cloud-related costs. Based on my learning experience, Ignition Cloud Edition appears to be a promising option for companies seeking a flexible and scalable industrial software platform.

Cloud monitoring has transformed real-time plant control and automated preventive maintenance

    Reviewed on Jun 22, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I work with ABB, and I work with Ignition Cloud Edition, WinCC, and SCADA specifically for control and automation processes in the plant.

For Ignition Cloud Edition, what we primarily use it for is our SCADA, which is an acronym for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. We use it to supervise and control activities in the plant, acquire data from the field in real time for monitoring, for visualization, and transformation of our plant processes.

We use the drag-and-drop interface in Ignition Cloud Edition, especially when we want to design the graphics or when we have a process we want to program. We do drag-and-drop to put the components, such as the slider for control and different functionalities.

How has it helped my organization?

Ignition Cloud Edition has streamlined our application development because it has almost the same user interface with ABB SCADA, WinCC SCADA, and other SCADA systems. The user interface is the same, so it was easy for me to quickly integrate. Ignition Cloud Edition offers more functionality and a more user-friendly interface.

The data we pull from the field using Ignition Cloud Edition allows us to analyze it. We have an Excel template where we pull this data, and then it helps us generate a bar chart or a pie chart, which we use to analyze the performance of our equipment in the field. It informs us about the frequency of alarms and the equipment with the highest number of alarms. We can analyze and determine which equipment is bringing a lot of alarms, indicating a need for preventive maintenance.

Due to the analytics and the real-time data we are able to pull using Ignition Cloud Edition, we are able to analyze, and we do not have to wait until an equipment breaks down. We can quickly carry out preventive maintenance instead of corrective maintenance.

    What is most valuable?

What I love about Ignition Cloud Edition is the advantages and functionalities it has over other SCADA software. It has unlimited licensing compared to other SCADA software we have. The previous system we were using required a license for each of the tags used in the field, but for Ignition Cloud Edition, it is unlimited. One server license covers all tags. It also has a lot of functionalities, is web-based, and allows me to log in and access the plant, control, monitor, and visualize at any time, even from my mobile phone.

It is easily accessible because the old SCADA we were using has an OPC. OPC is a protocol for communication from the plant to the control room workstation. Through OPC UA, which is Universal Architecture, we are able to pull data and then integrate it into each of our devices.

A lot of benefits come from using Ignition Cloud Edition. It has an easy user interface, and we are able to add different tags with just one license for a server. It is OPC UA, which stands for Open Platform Unified Architecture. The previous systems we had were DA, which is Decentralized Architecture, but with UA, it offers more functionalities. We can get real-time data, and we can pull this data from our devices in the field in real time.

    What needs improvement?

There is always room for improvement, and at the moment, I am on the good side. I do not really have a bad side of it or anything that I would like to see changed; I love what I see and I love what I use.

One feature that comes to my mind as missing in Ignition Cloud Edition is the user graphics in the user interface. The graphics in the user interface, such as the slider or the shapes for the equipment, can be improved upon. When I am selecting a tank, I should see a real tank, or when I am selecting a breaker, it should look like a real breaker in the field, or a valve or a sensor or a slider. Every other feature, such as the graphs and charts, are cool.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Ignition Cloud Edition for two years or more.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before Ignition Cloud Edition, I used ABB's 800xA SCADA, and then WinCC by Siemens SCADA.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing aspect of Ignition Cloud Edition is actually on the high side. If the price can drop a bit, many plants could get it easily. I discussed this with a sister plant to mine, and they were asking about the licensing, so I directed them to the website for updates, but it has been a while since my plant purchased it. One person mentioned the advantages, especially that it is built on trusted IT standards such as SQL, Python, and MQTT, but he felt the price was too high.

Ignition Cloud Edition is worth the money. The larger companies can deploy it, but the upcoming companies are the ones having small complaints about the pricing. The large companies in my area find it fine.

What other advice do I have?

In my organization, we have a gateway, and that is where we work with a FortiGate for the cybersecurity. The local network for the SCADA communicates to our national control center using a gateway server, and then on this server, we have Fortinet for cybersecurity. It is in between the plant and the outside communication to the national control center.

Ignition Cloud Edition comes with powerful, unlimited, and zero-install IDE. Unlike others, you need a lot of gigabytes and a lot of sizes to install on your device. Another advantage is that it is web-launched, meaning a client can log in to any device, whether a laptop, PC, or mobile phone. I was so amazed by this that I shared it on my LinkedIn profile picture. Everyone was messaging me, asking how I was using Ignition Cloud Edition. I was just sending them the link to the Inductive University training platform because there is a summary there. It is web-based and allows unlimited tags, clients, screens, connections, and so on, unlike ABB and WinCC where we had to buy licenses for each of our tags.

One last thing I love about Ignition Cloud Edition is that, unlike ABB and others, if you want to pull alarms or reporting, it is an independent application, but this one is universal and compact. In one licensed software, we are able to do alarming and reporting, while others require separate applications, separate licenses, and separate purchases.

My recommendation for others looking into implementing Ignition Cloud Edition is that they should adopt and deploy it. The reason is that it comes with powerful, unlimited resources and is web-launched, allowing log-in on any mobile device. You can work with a SCADA system on your mobile phone anywhere, within Nigeria, outside Nigeria, or anywhere. I would rate this product 9.5 out of 10.

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Ignition Cloud Edition is to create customer projects related to food and beverage and automotive industries.

One of the projects where I used Ignition Cloud Edition is related to a glass company. I used Ignition Cloud Edition to create this project, and in that, I employed multiple Ignition tools to create dashboards and fetch data and push it through via OPC UA.

In another project for a battery manufacturing company customer, I used Ignition Cloud Edition to fetch data and create machine learning models. I used the machine learning models to implement predictive maintenance of the devices and then display that data using Ignition Cloud Edition by creating Perspective modules and screens.

    What is most valuable?

The best features Ignition Cloud Edition offers include a cloud-based solution so I don't need to install it locally. I can use this cloud edition directly, share the link, and benefit from better security.

I find myself relying on the easy sharing feature the most, and that is the biggest feature that has made a difference in my work.

Ignition Cloud Edition has positively impacted my organization by enabling sharing so that projects can be shared without everyone having to access them through manual file sharing. This makes the process much faster and quicker.

    What needs improvement?

Ignition Cloud Edition can be improved if the features inside the cloud edition support multiple other cloud platforms, as that would be a beneficial feature.

The accuracy of Ignition Cloud Edition is not very great, and reliability also needs improvement. I believe better models should be included to have better artificial intelligence capabilities.

I would like to see more specific improvements in future updates.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Ignition Cloud Edition for two years and more.

What other advice do I have?

Others looking into using Ignition Cloud Edition should go ahead because it is good to use, fast, and reliable. I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.

Reduced downtime and costs have transformed multi-site monitoring and predictive maintenance

    Reviewed on Jun 16, 2026
Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

Our major use case for Ignition Cloud Edition revolves around data aggregation and the hybrid IoT architectures we have to manage, using it to pull telemetry data from dozens of separate physical plants into one central cloud repository, which allows us to view real-time enterprise dashboards and run multi-site reports, while the operational data is directly fed into the cloud-based AI predictive maintenance engines, helping us to forecast, see, and provide very good logic-based judgment over the entire data we have.

How has it helped my organization?

The setup of Ignition Cloud Edition has changed things for my team by providing good ROI, helping us to reduce costs and increase multi-site efficiency by hosting the central enterprise gateway in the cloud, completely eliminating the capital expense of buying physical servers and transitioning to cloud-based servers, while also reducing the IT labor requirement from our teams because we do not need to maintain the cloud server manually.

Ignition Cloud Edition has impacted our organization positively by showing specific outcomes such as a CAPEX to OPEX shift in hardware cost avoidance and an upfront cost reduction, saving us around $500,000, which is a substantial amount. The pay-as-you-go basis allows us to only pay for what we are using, saving many resources and money. Furthermore, it has provided an 80% bandwidth reduction and increased industrial network bandwidth consumption by 80% because data is only sent to the cloud when the value actually changes. Additionally, engineering labor and multi-site efficiency have improved, with deployment velocity increased by 75% thanks to the centrally managed gateway process, which allows a single team member to push a dashboard once it is rendered, instantly propagating it to all connected facilities globally. It has also helped with downtime prevention, saving us $2 million a year with standard downtime avoidance and decreasing the MTTR by providing clear visibility and feeding data into the predictive maintenance AI, representing significant ROI metrics.

    What is most valuable?

The best features Ignition Cloud Edition offers are valuable, including multiple features which I appreciate, such as the cloud marketplace procurement, which helps us to bypass the traditional slow software procurement by billing the software directly to our organization's existing infrastructure, giving us software implementation and helping us to accomplish things in a better way. The procurement is straightforward and easy. Ignition Cloud Edition also has pre-packaged core modules that automatically include the most critical tools from a web and mobile screens perspective. Additionally, it has lightweight IoT data transfer, alarm notification, and reporting. Thirdly, it features elastic scalability, allowing it to be instantly upgraded by the underlying cloud server CPU and RAM during massive data events without needing to rack and configure new physical hardware.

    What needs improvement?

Regarding suggestions for Ignition Cloud Edition, I would say it could offer a Kafka connector in a better way, even though it is already present.

    Reviewed on Jun 09, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Ignition Cloud Edition involves agriculture projects for farms.

In an agriculture project, we are using the Cirrus Link modules in Ignition for publishing and subscribing to the Ignition server from the different farms, which is the main point of using MQTT. I then push the data to the cloud using Snowflake, a Snowflake solution from a strategic partner with Ignition for cloud systems and data management.

I have another project for wind turbines using the MQTT solution from Ignition and pushing it to the cloud using Snowflake.

    What is most valuable?

The best features Ignition Cloud Edition offers include a seamless and easy-to-learn solution. Ignition platform is a general, powerful platform that is easy to use and cost-effective, where in most cases, you pay one time for your license and then use it forever. The community of Inductive Automation and the support you receive is really strong.

The ease of use and cost-effectiveness of Ignition Cloud Edition benefit my projects since it is not complicated compared to other platforms and solutions, and it is reliable with no significant technical issues. If issues do arise, you can find help within minutes or hours at most. Regarding cost, there is no need to count a lot of parameters to know how much you will pay for your license; you just buy some modules if you need data management, leading to a structured and clear path of what you are paying for. I have experience with other solutions from different vendors, and it is hard to understand their licensing and costs.

Ignition Cloud Edition positively impacts my organization by adding these kinds of projects to our portfolio with Inductive Automation as a contractor, helping us secure similar projects in the future.

Ignition Cloud Edition saves time and the client is satisfied with the solution, and we wish to secure more contracts in the future.

I would suggest adding a separate course in Inductive Automation at Inductive University for Ignition Cloud Edition itself.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Ignition Cloud Edition for about three years on different projects.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    Ignition Cloud Edition is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Ignition Cloud Edition's scalability is easy because of the clear streamline for pushing data and the ease of scaling up with user-defined types working on the MQTT and Sparkplug protocols, all contributing to easy system scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for Ignition Cloud Edition is perfect.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I worked with a client who previously used a different solution but suffered from its complexity, which gives me insight into how the end-user perceives such approaches. Complex solutions can lead to problems over time and hinder scaling up due to subscription costs and complexity. Ignition offers a powerful platform with cost-effective prices.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is good; they offer competitive pricing and the client was happy with it.

Although I cannot share specific metrics, I know it is cost-effective and allows the contractor to provide a competitive quotation, which helped us win the contract, add to our portfolio, and keep the client happy with the product.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Ignition Cloud Edition, I evaluated other options, including the AVEVA solution with the cloud and AVEVA Connect for sharing the SCADA system to the cloud. During this evaluation for a client, we analyzed the market and selected a couple of solutions that fit the client best, where Ignition competed with AVEVA. Ultimately, the client continued with AVEVA due to existing integrations and concerns about making a significant change, although they respect both Ignition and AVEVA.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for others looking into using Ignition Cloud Edition is to design the system very well, ensuring expertise in building it. It is important to pay for the highest level of support in the first year in case of any difficulties.

Ignition Cloud Edition's accuracy and reliability of output for its AI capabilities will be very reliable and accurate due to the integration with the different MCPs, and day after day, my confidence in the solution increases. I gave Ignition Cloud Edition a rating of nine out of ten.

Flexible platform has enabled us to design custom monitoring and ticketing with full control

    Reviewed on Jun 04, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I am using Ignition for systems, making systems, monitoring, and ticketing systems.

    What is most valuable?

Ignition offers me unlimited features such as limited tags, which is very helpful, as well as unlimited users, which is also very helpful. Those are the two main advantages that stand out more than any other software. Ignition gives you the blank paper to dream it, reach it, and draw whatever you need. There is a lot of customization you can make if you have the right skills for that.

Ignition has positively impacted my organization by offering a price advantage compared with other software. Once I have the ability to build the program or product with Ignition, I can leave other products from any competitor company, giving me a lot of benefits and a lot of customization options. It provides the ability, at a lower price, to make the best advantages and best practices for everything, and in the end, I own it.

    What needs improvement?

Ignition already has a lot of improvements through the variants of versions, such as the last version disabling the MCP and building views through the APIs, which I think is a very big move for Ignition. The Ignition teams make a lot of effort. Additionally, while I cannot mention everything right now, I can say that there is a need that customers express in the Ignition forum. If you need it, I think you can create it or scrape it from the web directly. For me, I do not see anything as a weak point; I think I have the ability to do the custom modules and Ignition gives me that ability. I am not the only one; I am talking about developers in general, as I think they provide us with a lot of tools to meet our needs.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Ignition itself, whether in the cloud or not, for four and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Ignition is, in my experience, 100% stable with great availability if you pick the right solution and build it on a strong foundation.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Ignition is scalable, and it has been able to grow with my needs, as I mentioned before. If I pick the right architecture, it would be great; for example, if I have a lot of sites, I go for edges for collecting data and sending it to the main. If I have many users, I split them to get the front end and back end. If I have IoT needs, I bring the MQTT in and implement it, so there is a lot of customization I can make. I think Ignition is the best way for scalability, 100%.

How are customer service and support?

For customer support, I have reached out, and I rate it 100%. The support I receive is very fast and clear, and they do not let you go until the problem is resolved. The Ignition forum is a very good resource. For technical tickets or issues, once I create one, I find very good support.

What other advice do I have?

Ignition University provides everyone with all the materials needed to do amazing work. For someone considering Ignition Cloud Edition, I think it is not bad, but honestly, I see it as overpriced. That is a problem for me. I think the last thing I should mention, and I already mentioned it, is to look again at the price. I rate this review a 10.
