Wallarm Advanced API Security for Inline Traffic Analysis

What do you like best about the product?

I started using the Wallarm API Security Platform and immediately saw how bad my security issues were, with known attackers targeting my most sensitive endpoints. But once I set up Wallarm protections, the problematic traffic calmed down, to the point where I had my first attack-free day within a week. It also allowed me to dial back on Cloudflare WAF rules, which used to cause more issues than they solved. By managing security through Wallarm, I no longer have to spend time dealing with emails from confused users due to overly broad Cloudflare rules. Announcing that Wallarm was handling my security gave my users confidence because of its strong reputation. Wallarm has truly saved my business and given me my life back by allowing normal sleep and work hours again.

What do you dislike about the product?

I had some trouble setting up inline Security Edge at first because Cloudflare was already proxying my traffic, and I think I just got the order wrong. While it's working great now, at first I wasn't 100% sure I set up inline correctly. Most of my confusion happened with Cloudflare's DNS settings. It was also a little scary doing this in the middle of the night to avoid interrupting user flows, which added some pressure. The setup was complicated only due to Cloudflare and not a Wallarm issue, and every step on the Wallarm side was easy and intuitive.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Wallarm API Security Platform to protect my API endpoints against attackers. It calmed down malicious traffic, stopped attacks, and solved my security issues. Wallarm saved my business and personal time by providing efficient security, allowing me to reduce dependency on Cloudflare and avoid user complaints.

It provides accurate, real-time API threat detection with very few false positives.

The platform's configuration and tuning process can be quite complex and time-consuming, especially for new users.

What I like best about Wallarm is the client care, and commitment to client satisfaction. High integrity company with a customer focus and desire to enhance their product to meet feature requests. Like most cloud based products, there is a shared responsibility between client and vendor to make it work optimally. I can attest in my experience that Wallarm will meet you where you are, so long as you do your part too. Tim Ebbers and team will work hard to help you glean the most value from your investment.

The containerized architecture may not be conducive to every environment/organization.

Defending against web-based attacks, OWASP Top 10 and the like...

What do you like best about the product?

Wallarm API Security doesn't only provide you general protection, it has a lot of other useful features (for example antibot and scanner). All rules including bruteforce protection rules are highly customizable and have many actions. Everything is also easy to manage and integrate. Cloud deployment is very welcome as well and lowers a point of entry for companies without big infrastructures. Reports are easy to read and overall design is very good.

What do you dislike about the product?

There is a small delay for synchronization between Wallarm Cloud and our nodes (like 3-5 minutes), so new rules are not applied instantly. Not a big problem, but wanted to highlight it anyway. Can't remember anything else to complain about.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Wallarm API Security protects us from many types of threats including DDOS, attacks, bots. We can also see our perimeter using Wallarm scanner and close potential vulnerabilities.

1. Antibot protection is very powerful, uses a lot of data and updated regularly

2. Flexible and robust bruteforce protection with customizable triggers and actions

3. Multiple modes of work and different IP lists (customizable priorities too) 

4. Easy custom integrations with webhooks and a lot of built-in integrations

5. docs.wallarm.com is easy to understand and use 

6. Cloud based solution so you don't have to deploy it on your side

What do you dislike about the product?

1. First two weeks we had some false positives, but they were fixed in monitoring mode (no traffic impact)

2. For cloud based solution you still have to manage your cloud (not a problem for us)

We're happy it's not an on-premise solution. We really appreciate easy deployment and professional support. Also Wallarm protects against all top 10 OWASP attacks and provides a very good detection.
