What do you like best about the product?

The most helpful aspect of Progress Chef is its ability to eliminate manual server setup through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated configuration drift management.

What do you dislike about the product?

The least helpful part that I discovered about progress chef, is that I can take time to learn, especially when you are still getting familiar with the setup and configuration.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps me with, solve the problem of having to manually configure and manage infrastructure across different systems.

Chef 360 is the product which I can try to migrate from infra server in my organisation to uplift new features for our customers

What do you dislike about the product?

Progress team has to come up with an AI option if possible so that we can think of how it would be useful for us to improve our infrastructure experience for customers

Compliance is one of the key which we have used to solve our hardening operating system

It user friendly and makes the repeative infrastructure jobs easy.It uses different language and any modifications of cookbook can be done easiy

Sometimes the failures are hard to figure out

Routine tasks like server database provision, mundane tasks also can be automated

I like how Progress Chef offers easy configuration management and makes the upgrade of software components in our entire infrastructure simple, even within a regulated environment. I appreciate its capability to maintain industry-standard CIS across all the software in the organization. Plus, I find the infrastructure ageless and straightforward to manage.

What do you dislike about the product?

I find writing code in Ruby difficult. Ruby is not widely used in the industry, and it's hard to find programmers who know Ruby, plus learning it takes a long time. Also, the initial setup of Progress Chef was not easy.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Progress Chef for managing configurations and upgrading software components easily, even in a regulated environment. It helps maintain industry-standard CIS across our organization's software, making infrastructure management ageless and simple.

Compliance and the flexibility to leverage automations on fly

The solution innovations frequency and the new enhancements are very delayed

Able to utilise the hardening very effectively and very easy to automate the manual things

I like the collaborative environment in Progress Chef, where team members share knowledge, support one another, and focus on continuous learning.

What do you dislike about the product?

I don't have any major concerns. One area for improvement would be making the sessions more interactive and ensuring enough time for questions and practical examples

Progress Chef solves the problem of tracking progress in a structured and transparent way. Instead of manually following up on tasks, updates, and milestones across different places, everything is centralized, making it easier to see what's completed, what's pending, and what needs attention. This has helped me stay organized, save time, reduce miscommunication, and make better decisions because I always have a clear view of progress.

It can handle large infrastructure setups with ease.

The documentation doesn’t provide enough detail for anyone who wants to build custom automations around it.

If configured correctly, Chef provides a bird’s-eye view of the entire infrastructure estate. It can be useful for a large number of people across the team.
