Long-term use has provided secure, reliable performance for critical cloud workloads

Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

I use Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages for different purposes. The primary purpose is as an operating system. Currently, I deploy it on AWS cloud.

    What is most valuable?

The best features of Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages include stability, reliability, security, and the fact that it is free and open source.

I assess the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel as having a major impact on performance. If I change the kernel and it crashes, it impacts performance at the OS level, and I can find out information in the OS log file and then resolve it.

Regarding Ksplice for kernel updates, my security policy indicates that I believe it is necessary to use a firewall. I believe Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages is secure. Compared to other operating systems like Windows and Ubuntu, which are not secure, Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages is secure. The Linux release date established Red Hat 4 in 1989. Then in 1992, we had Red Hat 5, Oracle Linux 5 in 1996, and Oracle Linux 6. After one or two years, new Linux products are released every one or two hours. The current Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages I am running is Oracle Linux 9, the latest version.

My thoughts on the integration with Oracle database solutions involve evaluation at the database level regarding security policy and additional factors. The security policies for Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages ensure that the solution is secure, attached at the database level and at the OS level, making everything feasible.

    What needs improvement?

There are areas in Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages that have room for improvement. The improvements should occur step-by-step. First is the OS, then hardware, followed by the network, third is the database, and lastly, other applications.

To optimize Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages, I first check the operating system. If there are any installation issues with the OS, I resolve those first before addressing other databases and applications.

Areas that should be improved in Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages include the product Oracle database 19c, the latest Apex application version, WebLogic's latest version, and deployments from EBS release R 12.2.4 to 12.2.10. These can be easily handled on Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages for almost 19 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability of Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages at 100 percent.

How are customer service and support?

I rate the technical support as depending on the issue, giving it a nine out of ten.

    How was the initial setup?

I have deployed Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages on cloud, specifically on AWS and Azure. Both clouds allow for easy deployment and management of Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages.

I can confirm that it is straightforward to deploy any product on Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages. In terms of deployment time, it does not take one week, two weeks, or one month. It actually takes two or three days.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Oracle Linux 7 | Support by SupportedImages to others looking to implement this product. They should conduct a proof of concept.
