A good platform for develop a social networking platform from scratch

What do you like best about the product?
It's MVC concept, and the way data is retrieving from the database. It's unique from other platforms
What do you dislike about the product?
Initially, it's learning curve is a bit high, and less community support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I created a social networking platform for colleges and I found that with Elgg with can develop a social networking platform with less effort and those who know PHP can easily adapt to ELgg development

What do you like best about the product?
Open plugins, which let developers integrate new funciontalities
What do you dislike about the product?
Marketing let die the project. I used Elgg 8 years ago and after that, never hear about it until today.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
An intranet for a central american client

Faster development, response time is very low.

Db query or custom query is not have good library like laravel.

I configure ldap on elgg.
