Powerful, Collaborative Data Analysis with Polished Outputs

    Reviewed on Aug 08, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Hex is how it combines powerful data analysis with an intuitive and collaborative interface. It makes it easy to explore data, build interactive analyses, and share insights with others, all in one place. I especially appreciate the flexibility of working with SQL and Python while still being able to create clear, polished outputs for non-technical stakeholders.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I dislike about Hex is that there can be a bit of a learning curve when you first start using some of the more advanced features. The platform is very powerful, but this also means it can take some time to discover the best workflows and understand all the available functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hex helps solve the challenge of bringing data exploration, analysis, and reporting into one collaborative environment. It allows me to work with data more efficiently, quickly test ideas, and turn analyses into clear and interactive outputs. This saves time, reduces the need to switch between multiple tools, and makes it easier to share insights and support data-driven decisions.

Daily transcription has boosted my productivity and made spoken input replace manual typing

    Reviewed on Jul 22, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Hex is that I use it daily as my transcription tool. It is really lightweight and easy to use.

As a transcription tool in my daily workflow, Hex helps me to speak faster than writing anything during my working day.

I do not have anything else to add about my main use case or how it fits into my workflow.

    What is most valuable?

The best features Hex offers are simplicity and being really lightweight.

Simplicity and being lightweight are valuable for me because it just works, making my day easier. I would also add that Hex is free, which is a nice feature.

Hex has positively impacted my organization by improving my productivity.

My productivity improved because before I started using Hex, I was typing everything and it was taking longer than just saying the same things. I have cut my working day by a few minutes every day because of that.

    What needs improvement?

Hex can be improved if they could implement new models because there are new LLMs appearing on a weekly basis, and they are still using the same one.

It would be nice if Hex would have a feature to translate automatically the provided transcription.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Hex for about two years now.

What other advice do I have?

Regarding Hex's AI capabilities, I think it is secured because it is using a local model.

Regarding Hex's AI capabilities, its accuracy and reliability of output are quite nice, and it is one of the reasons why I am using it.

My advice for others looking into using Hex is to try it and check that it fits you. I would rate this review a 9 out of 10.

Streamlined data reporting has boosted collaboration and saved significant analysis time

    Reviewed on Jul 20, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Hex is data analytics reporting. I use Hex to gather information from a database and put it into an easily readable, customer-formatted version that can then be shared, updated, and analyzed based on customer needs.

    What is most valuable?

Hex offers excellent features that make it fast and easy to use. The built-in LLM agent allows me to quickly and easily get what I want without having to think about the code. It is smart, receptive, does what I want it to do, and provides consistently great results in a very straightforward way.

What I appreciate most about the LLM agent is that I can use it to gather everything I need in one place without having to think too much about it. I understand enough SQL to write it myself without a problem, but the agent just makes it fast and easy. The formatting makes everything smooth and it all works together very quickly, cutting the time it used to take me to gather this type of reporting in about half.

Hex has impacted my organization positively by making it a lot faster and easier to get everything done. Its reporting is quick and easy, it is all consistent, and it is a fast way to get all the data I need. Since using Hex, I have seen it save me about 20% of the amount of time I would normally put into customer reporting.

    What needs improvement?

I would love to see more proactive recommendations from Hex. It would be nice if I could use an AI review to look over the data and everything I have built to make sure everything looks good, providing another set of eyes on my work.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Hex for one year.

How are customer service and support?

I am very satisfied with Hex's documentation and training resources.

    How was the initial setup?

There was a little bit of a learning curve for my team to adopt and learn Hex, but nothing too serious.

    What was our ROI?

Hex helps with collaboration among my team and with stakeholders by allowing me to easily and quickly get metrics, data, and analytics into the hands of my customers without having to spend a lot of time going back and forth.

What other advice do I have?

Hex's performance and speed, especially when handling large data sets, are super fast and very efficient, working as much as I need it to. My advice to others looking into using Hex is that if you have a lot of complex data sets or data that lives in many disparate locations, Hex is a great solution to bridge those gaps and bring everything together. I would rate this product a 9.

The best part about Hex is how easy it is to turn complex data analysis into a polished, interactive app that stakeholders can actually understand. It saves us a ton of time on reporting
What do you dislike about the product?
While Hex is an amazing tool, the pricing tiers and cost per user license can get quite expensive for smaller teams or startups trying to scale their data operations across the entire company.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hex solves the problem of siloed data analysis and messy version control often found in traditional notebooks. The benefit to me is a central, reliable workspace where my team can collaborate in real-time, trace data logic clearly, and maintain a single source of truth.

What do you like best about the product?
The reports can take a little while to load, but the insights and flexibility are worth it. The stackable components make the reporting top-notch, especially compared to static, basic reports.

The load times can be frustrating at times, but everything else about it is great. I just wish there were more explainer modules that gave qualitative review for dense tabls.
