Streaming workflows have improved and now support reliable remote sports event distribution

    Reviewed on Jun 26, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Haivision Media Platform is for sending and receiving streams. A specific example of how I use Haivision Media Platform for sending and receiving streams is that we take the streams from the venue or the specific event where the sports event is happening, and we send them to any of the distributors or takers.

    What is most valuable?

Haivision Media Platform offers features that are easy to use and allow me to understand what is going on. I think there should be some transparency of the stream, such as thumbnails, and if this will be added, that would be great.

The interface of Haivision Media Platform is fine and the performance is also good. The switchable part is also good, meaning the switching between the two streams is working well.

Haivision Media Platform has positively impacted my organization because it is a great solution. We can take streams from outside and we can monitor the streams. Monitoring the streams has benefited my organization because we can take streams, but there is a limitation with the bandwidth you are providing through the specific license with the bandwidth, and that is also the main constraint, as we cannot exceed that limit.

    What needs improvement?

Haivision Media Platform can be improved if we can directly take the stream with the encoding part; that would also be great.

Regarding needed improvements, I think there are technical limitations. The bandwidth limitations are there, so they should not exist. Additionally, I believe that at least an encoding part should be added, which would be great.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Haivision Media Platform for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    Haivision Media Platform is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability of Haivision Media Platform is good.

How are customer service and support?

I am facing an issue with customer support because there is no support in India, so we have to call people outside of India.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used a different solution called Streamlabs. That is also good, but it is only for monitoring, which is why I switched.

    What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment and can share that it involves money saved.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that licensing and the cost are good, but support sometimes takes time because there is no support in India.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated other options before choosing Haivision Media Platform.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others looking into using Haivision Media Platform is that this is a good solution for monitoring. If we are outside the office, we can send the stream and the people we are giving the license to can monitor and see the streams and videos. Because we are using Haivision Media Platform, we are using Haivision encoders, decoders, and Haivision Gateway, and all are good. I would rate this solution a 9.

Reliable live signal workflows have enabled robust international sports broadcast distribution

    Reviewed on Jun 11, 2026
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Haivision Media Platform is receiving signals in SRT, in HLS, in different network protocols and forwarding them in order to do a distribution and retransmission of my signals to many headends nationally and internationally, outputting in different network protocols. In addition, I also use the encoding and decoding of signals with their Makitos, carrying out encoding configurations in terms of bitrate and parameters. For example, we recently had to route a signal that was going to the United States and another to Miami according to the games of the 2026 World Cup, where we took the signal in Haivision Media Platform, opened the incoming and outgoing ports, received in SRT, received in multicast and retransmitted to different headends and users, maintaining control with the parameters and tools that Haivision Media Platform gives us to monitor those signals and encrypt them.

The ease of managing live events is something we use it for the most. In addition, I value the ability of Haivision Media Platform devices to solve problems when an issue arises. With a Haivision Media Platform Gateway and a Kiloview encoder, I get a lot of capability, and it is quite fast to configure when it comes to solving a problem or failure. Recently, we had a failure where one of our encoders that carries a lot of traffic from many channels from a French brand of encoders and transcoders failed. With Haivision Media Platform, we managed to receive the signals that had gone down, convert them, and send them from there to another of our hubs and headends. This reduced errors compared to equipment like Kiloview.

I have noticed better quality in transmission for sending and receiving since some of our providers and people we work with also use Makito and Kiloview. By us actually using Haivision Media Platform and Makito, it manages to integrate quite well, and the signals are much more reliable. Errors are reduced, the signal is much cleaner, and since it is a network protocol, it manages to communicate and behave well between the receiver and the transmitter.

I have seen improvements in operating costs and the ease and simplification of many operations, where two or three devices can be handled by Haivision Media Platform alone.

    What is most valuable?

I value the reliability that Haivision Media Platform gives me with its network protocol, which is quite clean and reliable, since with good configurations it gives me a lot of opportunity to reconfigure in real-time and beforehand so that the signal, both the one we receive and the one we send, is very neat and with very low latency or high latency, depending on the network parameters that Haivision Media Platform provides me. With that, I can configure effectively in real-time. I value the reliability that Haivision Media Platform offers me for pre and live configurations.

    What needs improvement?

The previous versions of Haivision Media Platform were a bit more cumbersome since we have been working with it for more than four years. Currently, Haivision Media Platform is much more updated, much better, and more intuitive with many quite technical options. Haivision Media Platform is very technical and gives very technical parameters that others do not give. It provides a good way to optimize and give good parameters to use. I like Haivision Media Platform because the software manages to use resources effectively according to the actual quality it is giving me.

On the technical side, I would like Haivision Media Platform equipment to be a bit more robust. On many of my devices, I have 100 Mbps ports, but I would like them to have 1000 Mbps ports. I would like them to have more capacity because a 100 Mbps port makes me very limited.

Regarding Haivision Media Platform improvements, I would like software updates for problem resolution or bug fixes to be more frequent. In the documentation on the website, I would want to have a faster and more accurate way to resolve failures since it becomes cumbersome having to create an account, register, and ask support and have them answer a question that could already be included directly in the documentation to improve and make technical support much faster.

An additional improvement necessary for Haivision Media Platform would be for the gateways to add more protocols and improve IGMP, as I have had issues with IGMP for receiving some types of signals, such as UDP. They are a bit finicky for some versions, and I would like it to open up more to additional network protocols like NDI, protocols that are not being accepted so far.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Haivision Media Platform for more than four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I consider Haivision Media Platform to be a totally stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the scalability of Haivision Media Platform at nine. The missing point is for scalability regarding ports, the limitation of the ports, and the technical limitation.

How are customer service and support?

My experience with Haivision Media Platform's technical support has been very good, very fast, very attentive, and they solve things in a very appropriate way.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not used another similar solution before Haivision Media Platform. We have always used many solutions, including Kiloview and ATEM, which is a French company, but of all of them, Haivision Media Platform has been our number one for rediffusion, transmission, and broadcast because of its ease, compatibility, and reliability. The others rely heavily on FFmpeg and work a lot based on FFmpeg and have several errors for which you have to call technical support and solve them in a much more cumbersome manner. In contrast, with Haivision Media Platform, the few failures you find, technical support solves quite quickly.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did not evaluate other options before choosing Haivision Media Platform because Haivision Media Platform was already there when I arrived. I have only been working with Haivision Media Platform, and also with ATEM and Kiloview, but we prefer Haivision Media Platform.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Haivision Media Platform at nine points. I give it a nine because in terms of encoding, broadcast, sending, and receiving signals, they have been the best equipment I have worked with. The one point is due to the limitations it gives me in the technical part, and also the costs are a bit high. The nine points is because when you reach technical support, they are quite fast and very good at solving issues. The missing point is for the technical part, which needs a bit more so that it does not have many limitations but can be made a bit more scalable or that they give that opportunity.

I would advise other professionals considering using Haivision Media Platform to spend their money and take the opportunity to have quality equipment. I would tell them to invest a little more to have Haivision Media Platform equipment that is a bit more robust from the start because it becomes a little complicated when it comes to scaling on the technical side.

Besides everything I have said, Haivision Media Platform has simply been a good platform, and I always use it in all my live broadcasts and my daily use. I rate Haivision Media Platform overall at nine points.
