Easy to Use with Strong Enterprise-Class Support
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use while maintaining strong enterprise-class support due to a rule-based defined system.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting module, while advanced, lacks the ease-of-use that clearly defines the rest of the user interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving from a Excel based monitoring setup, where people had to manually check system state, metrics, data.

Really stable, light and fully customizable on.premise monitoring tool

Reporting module isn't so user friendly on customization

There is so much power and capability - choosing which to use / implement is the toughest part.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation should be better as Checkmk has grown to be an established Enterprise Monitoring solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are monitoring our enterprise. We are working on key integrations so that an alert will create service incidents minimally in real time. As we capture historical data we are able to use Checkmk to identify thresholds that should create Alerts - warnings so that we can work on issues before they become critical.

What do you like best about the product?
The bit i like most about Checkmk is that it can basically connect to anything from a monitoring point of view. There are numerous agents available which can be setup easy enough. If all that fails you can use what they call Local Checks. These are checks that can simply analyze basic text or numbers at stated intervals. We use the system to analyze data values rather than any physical device on our network.
What do you dislike about the product?
We need to consider more elements for the end user that is consuming the data within Checkmk. While Checkmk is great at getting data, Data Insights are limited enough. You can have dashboard for sure but customizing Graphs is hard and requires a lot of programming knowledge. I find the features like trending basic enough. The next level is to bring more Data Analytics capability to it to try and answer the question my end users are asking. I'm finding that i'm reaching the limits of Checkmk in this regard
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We monitor around 200 locations around Ireland. Checkmk allow us to get Realtime data in relation alarms and issue that crop up at our site. This help with planning maintenance and resource planning

Its strengths are its ease of use, its documentation, and the ability to create your own plugins and integrate them with the platform.

Have an enterprise-type license but more economical for small businesses.

What do you like best about the product?
CHECKMK have the real time alerting function with various plug in available. It is used from the server ping alert to the database alerting function.
What do you dislike about the product?
Need some tuning skill as there are plenty of alerting feature/services which need to prevent using default value. Else, ones will keep on receiving the alert but not knowing what is the alert mesage related to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CheckMK alerting provides the first hand alert on monitoring job. It helps to trigger admin like us so that we know if the server is pingable, it also notify us when the file system size reaches certain level of utilization. In database monitoring, CheckMK helps to trigger the datafile utilization, critical DB availability and so on.
