Unified, Cloud-Native Integration Platform on OpenShift That Simplifies Architecture

    Reviewed on Jul 15, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It provides a complete integration platform rather than a collection of standalone products. Having API Connect, App Connect, IBM MQ, Event Streams, DataPower, Aspera, and shared platform services running on the same OpenShift foundation simplifies the architecture and creates a consistent operational model.

I also appreciate the cloud-native approach. Everything is deployed as Kubernetes operators, making it easier to automate installations, upgrades, and configuration using GitOps and CI/CD pipelines. Once the platform is established, new environments can be deployed in a repeatable and consistent manner.

Another strength is the integration between the products. APIs exposed through API Connect can easily integrate with App Connect flows, IBM MQ messaging, Kafka events, and DataPower security policies, all within the same ecosystem. This significantly reduces integration effort compared to stitching together multiple vendors' products.

One of the major advantages of IBM Cloud Pak for Integration is its flexible licensing model. A Cloud Pak for Integration (CP4I) license is not tied to a single product. Instead, the available Virtual Processor Core (VPC) entitlement can be allocated to any of the supported components, such as IBM API Connect, App Connect, IBM MQ, Event Streams, DataPower Gateway, Aspera, or other eligible capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cloud Pak for Integration is designed for enterprise-scale environments, and that comes with complexity. Installing and operating the platform requires solid knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, storage, networking, certificates, and the individual integration capabilities.

The platform is also resource-intensive. For development or proof-of-concept environments, the infrastructure requirements can be significant, although this is understandable given the number of enterprise services that are included.

While IBM's documentation is comprehensive, it can sometimes be difficult to find practical end-to-end deployment examples, especially for GitOps, automation, disaster recovery, and upgrade scenarios. More production-focused examples would help organizations adopt the platform more quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cloud Pak for Integration enables us to standardize enterprise integration on a single platform. Instead of managing separate products with different deployment models and operational processes, we have one consistent platform for API management, application integration, messaging, event streaming, security, and file transfer.

My Experience with IBM Cloud Pak for Integration : Ups & Downs

What do you like best about the product?
Integration Options: Initially what made me stood out was its ability to handle multiple integration styles. Whether it's about APIs or any event streaming, its versatility is impressive; even this became a game-changer for my team when dealing with some complex integration cases.

User-Friendly: Although it looks complex at the start, over time the interface feels quite intuitive, and navigating through the platform is quite straightforward and anticipated.

API: Last but not least, its API management tools are top-notch. Creating and managing APIs for me has really become hassle-free now.
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning: For beginners, initial setup and understanding might look a bit challenging, but after a fair bit of time and some head-scratching moments, you will be a pro.

Resources: It requires a decent amount of resources. Small businesses or businesses not equipped with decent infrastructure might find it a bit sluggish.

Documentation: A lot of documentation, which is a good part, but in daily work life, sometimes it feels like finding a needle in a haystack.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
API Management: With the help of its tools, I really enjoyed my work from API creation till retirement.

ETL: Its ETL capabilities are again top-notch with real-time data integration, and also handling a huge amount of data is now so easy.

What do you like best about the product?
The best quality of IBM Cloud Pak is that:
    1. It's hassle-free and easier to use than traditional integration tools.
    2. The UI and the transition/working is really smooth.
    3. It offers various new features and is customizable as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall it's good, there isn't any disadvantage work-wise... But if somehow nodes get disconnected or unavailable, then reconnecting takes time. So the connection should be good in the first place. But it's a less occurring issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
    1. It's really fast.
    2. Data visualization and all features were also really helpful for me.
    3. It's hassle-free and easier to use than traditional integration tools.

Quick data transfer and reduced dependency on third party services

    Reviewed on Oct 27, 2023
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Like every other low code integration tools this makes the work done. But the speacialty here is everything on cloud and data transfer is very quick, it eliminated the need of integrating some third party Databases, messages brokers, log dashboards etc as we have ibm's own DB2, AS400 databases and IBM MQ which makes it more reliable and more secure.
Also its not like we have to pay a standard amount to entire package some of which we don't need, we can actually pay only certain products that we need here hence its cost effective. Actually it's flexibility of private and public cloud enablement made it easier for the application deployment. Last but not least it's AI powered hence saves time.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's frequent releases and updates which makes us to work on our already finished work or API's.
Also CI CD should be enhanced
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solved the problem of time consumption when processing huge volume of data from source to target systems as there are huge no of servers running in the cloud.
We can easily connect applications running in multiple clouds.
Api monitoring made easy. And better api flow readability.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the pre-build templates that easily help with integration and especially because they don't require me to write any code
What do you dislike about the product?
Product updates take a lot of effort and are relatively slower than expected. Keeping in mind that CP4I offers file transfers at high speeds, updates should not take this long
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My previous organization used IBM CP4I to reduce the amount of manual tasks and hours involved in doing them. With this, we definitely increased our productivity and focused more on workflow.
