Pure Storage Cloud Dedicated (Subscription)
Unified subscription model has reduced storage costs and simplifies hybrid cloud data management
What is our primary use case?
I do not work with NetApp BlueXP as the cloud manager very frequently; we have worked on very few and specific use cases. Otherwise, we do not use it frequently.
What is most valuable?
For Pure, the priority use case is block storage, which provides better efficiency and performance. Another key point is the price point we are able to achieve on Everpure Cloud.
Everpure Cloud is cost-effective. We have conducted some level of comparison, and I can compare Everpure Cloud with the Dell PowerMax solution. We were able to negotiate better commercial terms while achieving performance that is similar and close to the same performance we get on PowerMax.
The best features in Everpure Cloud include being able to obtain a single commercial model or subscription where I can use the same capacity on public cloud or even on the on-premises solution. Everpure Cloud offers their Evergreen consumption-based model, where the same subscription can run on on-premises or public cloud. If I need to move a certain workload to on-premises, I can do that without requiring additional capacity. I can repurpose the same licenses that we already purchased.
We have used ActiveCluster for high availability.
The integration with Pure1 has helped in visualization and managing data storage. It is a very user-friendly platform and dashboard that can help us. My L1 engineers can also perform all those integrations and try to resolve or get a full view of the environment.
I assess the role of unified orchestration and automation in simplifying data management as very straightforward. All the orchestration tools and the dashboard are much simpler. It requires minimal clicks or minimal commands to be configured and we are all set.
The key benefits that Everpure Cloud brings include that, as they changed the name, I need to use the same subscription. I do not need to worry that I need to refresh my product or anything needs to be done. The same technology will keep running as long as I want to use it, and that too with a more commercially viable solution.
I evaluate the impact of data reduction capabilities on storage costs as much better than anything I have seen. I came across a case where we achieved an 8:1 efficiency ratio on Everpure Cloud.
The integration of ActiveCluster has helped my organization ensure zero RTO and RPO by configuring certain cluster configurations for specific requirements. The RTO and RPO that Everpure Cloud provides are much more aggressive than any other competitive partner.
What needs improvement?
I would like to see improved unified storage capabilities. Although they call it unified storage, Everpure Cloud is lagging behind for file workloads. NetApp is way ahead for all file storage but not for block storage. Similarly, for Pure, it is really good for block workloads, but for file workloads, there is definitely room for improvement.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have not used the Disaster Recovery options in Everpure Cloud so far. We have enabled that feature but have not encountered the need to use it in the customer environment. We have a central excellence team who validates all the different features from this product, and we have tested the DR functionality, but only in a testing capacity.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
In terms of performance, I find Everpure Cloud to be very stable.
How are customer service and support?
I evaluate customer service and technical support as very good. We received support in just a few hours' time. In terms of getting part replacements or any other services, those are very quick.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
In comparison to other technologies from NetApp, Hitachi, and Dell, the key differences of Everpure Cloud include the benefits I have already mentioned. The way they have structured their model for the storage subscription they provide is distinctive. I can have a single subscription where I can run my environment on the cloud or even on-premises. The same subscription can work across both environments. The disadvantage I want to highlight is that they really need to improve their file workload capabilities. I think they are already working on options to compete with any other technology provider.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup process is much easier in comparison to any other technology. It is very simple to configure Pure Storage. It is a plug-and-play kind of environment where you just need to connect and everything can be done in an automated manner. All those configurations are very easy.
What other advice do I have?
The advice I would share with others who are looking into implementing Everpure Cloud is that we have internal teams working on particular projects where we try to position Everpure Cloud. Wherever there is a strong cloud presence or where we want to grow the environment, Everpure Cloud allows us to bring down the overall cost. Because with Everpure Cloud used on a cloud platform, we are able to bring that kind of efficiency so that customers can reduce the storage cost on public cloud. That is the TCO we have created with the help of Everpure Cloud and justified it with our end customers as well. I rate this product ten out of ten.
Cloud storage has simplified SAN and NAS management and now optimizes costs and provisioning
What is our primary use case?
Everpure Cloud serves as both SAN and NAS storage, as well as an object-type storage solution. I can use a single storage platform for multiple types such as SAN and NAS environments, and we are provisioning some LUNs and file shares into Pure, which we hand over to the users.
I use Everpure Cloud for the overall environment and the company, rather than specific projects. The workflow involves getting requests from the application teams or the server teams, during which we validate the requests.
What is most valuable?
The best features of Everpure Cloud include a consumption-based model, where there is no need for on-premises storage space. I only pay for the size I use, and there are continuous moderation sessions, so hardware upgrades and software enhancements are not required. All of these are managed in the back end, suggesting necessary updates.
The consumption-based model benefits my team and organization by allowing us to easily buy the required space and sizes for cloud-based storage. I do not need to add any nodes or controllers to the array side, which helps us reduce costs. Additionally, with this moderation session approach, I might use a storage array for three to five years before needing to buy something else, which I can avoid with cloud storage.
The main advantage of the features is that I can buy and pay for whatever model I choose, making budgeting easy and cost-efficient.
Everpure Cloud positively impacts my organization by enabling me to provision LUNs and manage everything from the cloud side conveniently. If any hardware issues arise, I need to contact the data center team; however, having everything on a single platform allows me to resolve issues easily and minimizes downtime.
What needs improvement?
Improvements for Everpure Cloud include extending the work processes and providing a lab environment to enhance my knowledge of the cloud, as well as improving support systems. Capacity planning and upgrades would benefit from these enhancements.
Needed improvements would include integrating zero planned downtime on the cloud side; while it might exist already, I hope to enhance it. Maximum disk sizes can be increased, allowing even smaller companies to utilize Everpure Cloud service effectively.
For how long have I used the solution?
In my environment, I have been using Everpure Cloud for the last six to eight months only because I am planning to move the storage from on-prem to a cloud-based system.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Everpure Cloud is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Everpure Cloud's scalability combines various aspects, allowing me to increase capacity and performance as needed, along with integrating AI features that benefit application and container management.
How are customer service and support?
Customer support from Pure is consistently good compared to other brands. They respond immediately and help me with any issues that arise.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Previously, I used on-premises storage solutions, and when comparing them to Everpure Cloud, I find it very useful as I can manage storage size, latency, and IO efficiently, reducing time in activities.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment, as I save both time and money. I only pay for the storage size I use, so if I need more, I can pay later. This flexibility is very useful; I avoid purchasing large storage that I won't utilize for a long time, which is a significant advantage in the cloud.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Everpure Cloud, I did evaluate other options, including NetApp. However, the cloud storage from NetApp was primarily for NAS only, while I needed both SAN and NAS capabilities, which is why I selected Everpure Cloud for my needs.
What other advice do I have?
I rate Everpure Cloud a 10 because it is a cloud storage solution that eliminates the concern of hardware issues and other related problems.
I chose 10 because it automatically moves the data to the cloud side, balancing the storage pool, and can detect any issues autonomously, providing me with solutions to enhance my data.
Regarding Everpure Cloud's AI capabilities, it suggests solutions for level one issues, easily identifying what actions I can take without needing to search the internet for answers, allowing me to resolve issues immediately.
In my experience with the accuracy and reliability of Everpure Cloud's AI output, I currently do not face issues on the cloud side, although I sometimes receive alerts regarding potential breaches of size in the volume and file shares. During those instances, I validate the array side and reach out to the application team to fix the issue promptly.
I am currently using Pure as my cloud provider for the hybrid model.
I advise others considering Everpure Cloud to know that it is very user-friendly storage. Based on my experience, it is notably more user-friendly and easier to handle and learn than other storage solutions.
My overall rating for this product is 10.
