Expressive SAIL That Scales from Simple Forms to Enterprise Apps

    Reviewed on Aug 04, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I love most is how expressive SAIL is, especially when it’s paired with the breadth of the platform. You can start with something as simple as a form and grow it into a full enterprise application with process orchestration, AI, and external integrations, all within one cohesive environment. Also the getting someone trained on this technology is quite easy and less time taking.
What do you dislike about the product?
Debugging: Vague error messages and the lack of a step-through debugger make troubleshooting difficult.

Performance: Complex interfaces and poorly optimized queries can lead to sluggish performance at scale.

Learning Curve: The unique expression language and functional programming model take time to master.

UI Customization: Styling flexibility is limited, so pixel-perfect designs are hard to achieve. This is something which could be improved if UI can have CSS integration possible

Licensing Cost: Premium pricing can get expensive for large user bases or when supporting external users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are working on a Case Management solution where business users log case entries raised by external users for tracking and end-to-end closure. This application keeps proper track of all incidents in one common place, which was quite disaggregated earlier when it was handled manually using a paper-based approach.

What do you like best about the product?
The interest it has so that a new user can navigate smoothly, as well as the ability it provides to automate processes and tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that Appian can feel somewhat inflexible and complex to configure, especially when quick changes or customizations outside of standard flows are required. I've also noticed that the learning curve is steep for non-technical users and that some integrations or advanced adjustments may rely too heavily on specialized developers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main benefit is that it reduces operational times, manual errors, and dependency on spreadsheets or emails. It also makes it easier for teams to work with clearer information, speed up decision-making, and adapt processes without having to develop everything from scratch.

Low-Cost, Time-Efficient App Development with Great Fidelity and Connectivity

    Reviewed on Jun 19, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I believe it is the fact that with a small group of developers you can transform ideas and processes into running apps. The upsides, low cost, time efficiency, fidelity and connectivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
According to my development team. The app's interface is not that user friendly and flexible as other web developments can be. It also becomes quite the hassle once you've programmed processes using it, to migrate to another. Last but not least, it is expensive compared to other options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helped a company i worked with transform processes into automated workflows. We received I high number of information request about the products and services we offered. They all came from different countries, through different tools,we then had to send different documents and keep track of all that using different tools, and now, it is all concentrated in one app.

Implementation and Costs: Major Challenges for Appian

    Reviewed on Jun 09, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I support the management and automation of business processes using Appian. I find the initial setup extremely easy when used with their cloud service.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is prohibitive, the wallet hurts. Appian licenses are incredibly expensive and are designed for the budgets of multinationals or governments. If you try to set up something medium-sized, the return on investment takes ages to appear.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Appian as a platform for business process management and automation (BPM), designing, configuring, and implementing digital workflows that optimize organizational operations. Through Appian, I participate in process automation, system integration, document management, low-code enterprise application development, and monitoring of operational indicators, contributing to improved efficiency, reduced execution times, and strengthened control and traceability of activities within the organization.
