We use Sovos for our sales tax reporting across multiple states, and overall, it has been a helpful tool for our team. Once you understand the process and follow the correct steps, the system is pretty easy to use and helps make multi-state reporting more manageable.

What do you dislike about the product?

Our biggest challenge has been communicating with our report preparer. They're in the Eastern Time Zone, and we're in the Mountain Time Zone, so our overlapping work hours are limited. This can make it harder to connect quickly when we have questions or need clarification.

Interfaces with SAP are improving at this moment in order to be an automatic process.

Sovos is very good, and it has really helped me with many aspects of their product. Overall, my experience has been positive, and I’ve found it useful for understanding and working with what it offers.

Sovos has often been too quiet and hasn’t been helpful when I’ve needed support.

Website is easy to use, Sovos Support is quick to respond. On Demand tutorial was a lifesaver submitting 1099 reports.

The procedure seems to change a little every year, but as long as the tutorial/training video is available it's fine.

We can enter 1099 for recent acquisitions that are not fully integrated into our own ERP for the tax year.

1) Your helpdesk (although I think a phone number should be added)
2) your "womb to tomb" handling of the 1099 process

What do you dislike about the product?

1) I'm sorry i can no longer call to get quick answers to certain questions
2) I think the system should be more user friendly and walk us thru the process (remember, we only use the software once a year.
3) I think there should be some banner or fanfare when the process is done. Even Turbotax offers a visual "complete" cartoon

What I appreciate the most about Sovos is their excellent customer service. They are very responsive, accommodating, and easy to work with. They listen to our feedback and requests. I give Sovos a high rating because of that.

What do you dislike about the product?

Because we're in the older version, SUT and not GTD, we run into some challenges. It sometimes cannot or does not support certain complex tax rules or tax legislations from specific states. However, when we contact Sovos, they try to be accommodating as much as they can.

We use Sovos tax engine, and it handles product mapping, tax rates and rules assignment in various jurisdictions.
