Real-Time Endpoint Visibility and Control at Scale with Tanium
Reviewed on Jun 23, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Tanium is its ability to provide real-time visibility and control across a large number of endpoints from a single platform. It helps IT and security teams quickly identify issues, deploy fixes, and maintain compliance without the delays often seen in traditional endpoint management tools. Its speed and scalability make day-to-day operations much more efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I dislike about Tanium is that it can have a steep learning curve for new users. Its wide range of features and powerful capabilities can feel overwhelming at first, and proper training is often needed to make full use of the platform. Additionally, some organizations may find the licensing and implementation costs relatively high.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tanium solves the problem of managing and securing a large number of endpoints in real time. It gives a centralized view of devices, software, vulnerabilities, and compliance status across the entire network.
For me, the biggest benefit is that it helps identify issues quickly, deploy updates faster, and reduce manual effort. This improves operational efficiency, strengthens security, and allows problems to be resolved before they have a major impact on users or business operations.

Problems Tanium Solves
1. Lack of Endpoint Visibility
Many organizations struggle to know:
How many endpoints they actually have.
Which devices are online or offline.
What software is installed.
Which devices are missing security updates.
Tanium solves this by providing near real-time inventory and visibility across all endpoints from a single console.
2. Slow Incident Response
Traditional tools may take hours or even days to collect endpoint information during a security investigation.
Tanium allows security teams to query all endpoints within seconds or minutes, enabling them to quickly answer questions such as:
Which machines have a specific malicious file?
Which devices are running a vulnerable version of software?
Which users logged into an affected machine?

Real-Time Visibility and Fast Global Remediation with Tanium
Reviewed on Jun 15, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
The absolute best thing about Tanium is that it finally stops the guessing games. Instead of relying on days-old, stale data from legacy tools like SCCM, Tanium's peer-to-peer architecture gives you a literal real-time pulse on your environment you can query a hundred thousand machines and get an accurate answer in seconds. This creates a single source of truth that finally ends the classic finger-pointing between IT operations and Security teams, because everyone is looking at the exact same live data. On top of that, it’s a massive win for your infrastructure's health; we can often rip out half a dozen bloated, legacy point-solution agents for patching, inventory, and compliance, replacing them all with one lightweight client. Ultimately, the biggest upside isn't just having the visibility to spot a zero-day threat instantly, but having the power to actually push a fix across the globe in minutes rather than crossing your fingers and waiting for a weekend maintenance window.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike most about Tanium is that it operates like a loaded weapon its immense power is also its greatest risk. Because of its real-time, peer-to-peer architecture, a junior admin pushing a poorly tested remediation script or a heavy custom query can instantly saturate network links or cause global performance degradation before you even realize what happened. Beyond the technical risk, the platform has a notoriously steep learning curve; you can't just intuitively stumble your way through its proprietary sensor configuration, and Tanium's recent shift away from their dedicated Technical Account Manager (TAM) support model means you are increasingly left to navigate this complexity via standard support tickets. Finally, from a financial perspective, the opaque pricing and aggressive "Autonomous Endpoint Management" module bundling often lead to enterprise shelfware, forcing organizations to pay a massive premium for capabilities their security teams simply don't have the bandwidth to deploy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest business problem I see Tanium solving is the massive visibility gap that occurs when enterprise infrastructure rapidly fragments across legacy datacenters and modern multi-cloud environments like AWS, Azure, and GCP. As organizations scale, manually tracking which assets are exposed, misconfigured, or missing critical security agents turns into an operational nightmare and a massive liability. Tanium cuts right through that hybrid-cloud chaos, acting as a unified control plane that guarantees continuous, real-time compliance. For my daily work as a cloud security consultant, the greatest benefit is how it acts as a force multiplier for the rest of our architecture; I rely on it heavily to ensure that our dedicated endpoint protection platforms, like Microsoft Defender, are actually deployed, healthy, and actively reporting across every single node. It completely eliminates reactive, month-long audit cycles and lets me confidently prove to business leaders that our environment isn't just secure on paper, but actively fortified in reality.

Rapid Endpoint Visibility That Transformed Our Incident Troubleshooting
Reviewed on May 04, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
It wasn’t until I used Tanium’s capabilities to quickly identify the status of the endpoints involved in an incident that I realized the importance of Tanium. No longer did I need to wait for reporting or sift through logs in multiple systems to determine what had transpired. This experience has completely altered my approach to troubleshooting, as I am now not reliant on lagging data. Another feature that I found compelling about Tanium is its ability to drill down from a broad overview to an individual endpoint without needing a new solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Familiarization with the tool was difficult. At one point, I could only fumble around with my queries before being able to make sense of what it needed from me. It does not offer too much guidance on this aspect, meaning you need to figure out your way around by experimentation or proper understanding of the underlying principles. The interface is very heavy, too. There are just a lot going on, making it sometimes unclear which part of it to pay attention to. With a high number of endpoints, the amount of data is just too much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before using Tanium, I was constantly dealing with delayed visibility. I would find out about issues after they already spread or after logs were collected, which slowed everything down. Now I can directly check endpoints in real time and confirm what’s actually happening instead of relying on assumptions or outdated data. That makes incident response much faster, because I don’t need to wait for information to come in from different systems. Over time, this has reduced the back-and-forth during investigations and made it easier to stay ahead of problems instead of reacting too late.

Powerful endpoint visibility and security management platform
Reviewed on May 02, 2026
Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Tanium is its real time visibility and control over endpoints. It allows you to quickly query and manage thousands of systems within seconds, which is extremely useful for security operations and incident response. The platform is powerful when it comes to patch management, asset discovery, and threat detection, all in one place. I also like how it reduces the need for multiple tools by combining endpoint management and security capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike about Tanium is that it has a steep learning curve, especially for new users. The interface and query structure can take time to understand, and proper training is often required to use it effectively. It can also be resource intensive and relatively expensive, which may not be ideal for smaller organizations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tanium solves the problem of lack of visibility and slow response across large scale IT environments. It enables real time monitoring, quick threat detection, and faster remediation across endpoints. For me, it helps in identifying vulnerabilities, managing patches efficiently, and responding to incidents without delays. Overall, it improves security posture and reduces operational effort by centralizing endpoint management.
