What is our primary use case?

Our main use case for Plotly Dash Enterprise is for data analytics, as we primarily involve it in analytics and visualization for better decision-making.

When I use Plotly Dash Enterprise day-to-day, it typically begins with building interactive dashboards and analytics applications. As a data scientist and research analyst, I utilize Python without requiring heavy front-end development. In my day-to-day work at a market research company, our team uses it to turn raw survey or business data into live visual dashboards that help our clients and teams monitor insights in real time, which leads to better decision-making.

Adoption of Plotly Dash Enterprise across my organization is not limited to one person or small tasks. It is commonly used across multiple departments, though the way it is used varies based on each team's needs. For example, the operations team in our country utilizes it for survey tracking, recruiter performance, and fieldwork status, while management uses it for KPIs, revenue trends, and project progress. As a research analyst, our team uses it for predictive modeling, quality control, fraud detection, and advanced visual analytics. Client servicing teams such as business development employ it for client-facing dashboards to share live insights and reports with end clients.

What is most valuable?

When my team started using Plotly Dash Enterprise, I found it relatively intuitive because it is Python-based and I already work with data analysis tools such as Pandas and SQL. However, most of my colleagues needed more structured training since they were heavily dependent on Excel manual reporting and static PowerPoints before using Plotly Dash Enterprise. The main challenges for them included understanding live dashboards instead of static files, interpreting interactive charts, using filters correctly, and trusting automated data uploads rather than manually checking everything, particularly for 50 members from operations who needed to adapt to real-time KPI monitoring, recruiter performance tracking, and automated quota management.

However, if we need a professional internal dashboard, it might take around one to three weeks or one to five weeks. For a full operational enterprise system, it can take up to three months, which includes cloud deployment, role-based access, machine learning integration, scalability, multiple pipelines, live APIs, and quality checks.

What is our primary use case?

I have been using Plotly Dash Enterprise for more than four years, developing customized dashboards and analysis using Plotly on Python for use within my organization.

I use these dashboards for analysis within my organization primarily for audit, quarter audit, and annual audit purposes, where we work on sharing the data and managers take decisions to enhance performance for these quarters or annual years.

The dashboard is actually part of ISO certifications, which is an important aspect of my main use case and how the dashboards help my team.

What is most valuable?

Plotly Dash Enterprise offers many different types and dynamic charts, and Dash is easy to develop and fast to deploy, making it one of the best features.

These features help my work because I am a senior professional in Python, and most of the time I want to develop everything on the same platform, so you do not need different types of technologies such as front-end or others. With minimum knowledge of front-end or JavaScript, you can develop a full dashboard and make it dynamic with filters and updated live data while you browse. For integration, if you know Python, you can integrate with different databases, collect data, and clean from various databases while using the dashboard to publish and integrate with older systems in the industries.

There are no specific outcomes, but there is considerable improvement because the data was shared. Many issues and insights from the dashboard may lead to different decisions and improve everything.

Improvements include cost-saving from open sources, plus a considerable amount of customization and money savings. You can develop it on your premises or use it as a managed service.

What needs improvement?

Plotly Dash Enterprise can improve by providing strong certifications and courses so people can develop better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Plotly Dash Enterprise for more than four years.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service is good, so I have no additional comments on user experience, documentation, or support.

What is our primary use case?

I use Plotly Dash Enterprise at TCS for one of our telecom customers, specifically Vodafone, where we had a brief use case for network congestion and deployed it for our network engineers to view the data in real-time.

Our main use case for Plotly Dash Enterprise relates to service requests, where we handle service requests concerning networks and complaints, clustering them based on the medium and type of complaints we receive. I employed a 3D scatter plot for visualizations based on different domains of complaints like network coverage, data speed limitations, and the media channel through which the complaint arose, whether it came from the user directly or via an inbound channel.

For our main use case, I can highlight that we compared Plotly Dash Enterprise against traditional BI applications like Tableau and Power BI, discovering that the deep integration we experienced with Plotly Dash Enterprise was tremendously beneficial. I noted that it was not only useful for our use case but also for other colleagues' use cases, even though I'm not fully aware of their details, and the integration with Python and advanced analytics along with 3D support allows our network engineers to interact with the dashboard and understand the daily complaints better.

While I have used Plotly Dash Enterprise for a couple of use cases and wanted to utilize it further, client dependencies have limited my usage. However, I found the features to build dashboards quickly to be impressive. Although training team members who were unfamiliar with Plotly Dash Enterprise required time, the ability to interact and create objects or charts on the go using data frames or file data has been beneficial, and the speed of deployment is excellent.

What is most valuable?

Using Plotly Dash Enterprise helps me handle service requests and complaints faster because I can create 3D scatter plots with Express and graph objects, conduct advanced analysis, apply PCA dimension reduction, and clustering, which aids in understanding the nature of customer complaints, identifying key pain points, and addressing these issues in real-time for better service quality.

In my experience, the best features Plotly Dash Enterprise offers include a broad range of objects for interactions beyond just traditional charts and pie charts; it includes stacked charts. The interaction aspect is remarkable, allowing me to activate or deactivate specific legends in the charts to understand the contribution of each factor in stacked bar charts or pie charts. The 3D graphs also provide detailed insights as I can zoom in and rotate them, helping me analyze how each complaint falls within the 3D factor and its influencing axes.

Plotly Dash Enterprise positively impacts my organization by saving time and enabling better decision-making. Currently, the network engineers utilize this deployed Dash app, which feeds near real-time data, allowing them to resolve issues promptly as the data charts refresh every five minutes.

Initially, the complaints workflow was slow, with back-office agents assessing complaints every hour before they were sent to the network team for analysis and action. With Plotly Dash Enterprise, engineers can now directly view issues on the app, enabling faster segregation and resolution of complaints, resulting in improved customer satisfaction. Customers who previously endured 24-hour wait times now experience resolutions in two to three hours due to direct interaction with real-time feedback.

What needs improvement?

While the documentation for Plotly Dash Enterprise is commendable, it can pose challenges for individuals new to Dash or Plotly, as the customizations and optimizations can be complex, requiring significant time from developers. Additionally, integrating our client's authentication and security processes during deployment presents challenges.

As for performance and scalability, they are satisfactory, although there's some dependence on backend authentication, which can occasionally take longer and necessitates retries. Improving this aspect from a UI perspective would be advantageous.

I deduct two points for ease of usage, which, while straightforward to begin with, requires effort to fully grasp and utilize effectively. Compared to traditional BI tools, Plotly Dash Enterprise remains powerful but has aspects that aren't as easy, especially during deployment.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in the field of data analytics since 2019, which totals around seven years, and I have pivoted from an initial background in SAP. During this time, I interact and work on data science pipelines, learning ML, deep learning, and currently, I am also working on GenAI on GCP cloud.

How are customer service and support?

I encountered one incident that required reaching out for customer support regarding app deployment aligned with our client's authentication process, and my experience was positive as they addressed the issue effectively, providing a satisfactory resolution after some time.

I would rate the customer support an eight out of ten, primarily due to the response time. It took a while for them to fully grasp our issue before offering a solution based on our inputs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Comparing Plotly Dash Enterprise to other reporting solutions like Tableau or Power BI, I find that it has better integration with Python, which is a significant advantage. During our use cases, the integration facilitated customizations that are less efficient in traditional tools like Power BI, which, while allowing Python integration, doesn't provide as comprehensive support.

What other advice do I have?

Training my team to use Plotly Dash Enterprise compared to other tools was initially steep due to reliance on documentation and examples from sample datasets, but they quickly acclimated. Custom complex cases highlighted Plotly Dash Enterprise's advantages, especially for developers experienced in Python, as they can create scripts and add customizations leading to effective output in Plotly Dash Enterprise graphs.

Managing user access and permissions within Plotly Dash Enterprise is straightforward; we can create groups and assign user privileges based on their needs. Some users may only view dashboards, while operators can provide comments for ticket routing directly from the dashboard.

The integration of Plotly Dash Enterprise with various tools and data sources is, in my experience, exceptional. It accommodates not just file sources but also complex scripts and their outputs adeptly, ensuring flexibility for our needs.

My advice for others considering Plotly Dash Enterprise is to start using it to appreciate its capabilities, delve into the documentation, experiment with custom solutions, and try deploying an app independently to fully understand its ease of use in creating and deploying applications.

I have no additional thoughts other than expressing that our experience has been positive, as Plotly Dash Enterprise has significantly improved our response times for customer complaints, reducing wait times from one or two days down to just a few hours. The pipeline has also stabilized, making the experience of creating and deploying custom pipelines via Dash pleasantly efficient. What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Plotly Dash Enterprise is for creating visualizations and dashboards. It is related to my open-source Google Summer of Code project where we are showing metrics and visualizing them.

A specific example of one dashboard I built with Plotly Dash Enterprise is an interactive time series graph that shows contributor activity, issue trends, and onboarding metrics. Plotly is basically the interactive telescope for data, and in my project, which is Augur, the data is huge and constantly changing. Static graphs are limiting because a user may want to zoom into a time range, hover, or inspect specific data points. With the help of Plotly, I was able to build an interactive time series graph with hover tooltips showing contributor counts and filters by repository. Maintainers can visually discover patterns instead of just reading raw numbers. Plotly helped me to represent the open-source health metrics in a way that allows maintainers to analyze trends, contributor behavior, and repository activity interactively.

What is most valuable?

The best features Plotly Dash Enterprise offers are interactive graphs, better exploration, and features such as zoom and pan. There is hover functionality, the UI is highly responsive, there are multiple chart types, and I can directly integrate it with React or modern front-end applications. Additionally, there is the easy option to export any of the visualizations that I have created.

Out of those features, I find myself relying on the multiple chart types the most because they help us to understand the data in multiple different ways. We are able to interpret the data and understand it better by creating different kinds of charts.

Plotly Dash Enterprise has positively impacted my organization and project because we were able to create highly interactive visualizations. It is easier for us to follow that specific pattern and implement it. The visualizations have been very helpful for us, and it is easier to accomplish our goals.

What needs improvement?

To improve Plotly Dash Enterprise, integration with multiple dashboards and multiple front-end frameworks would be beneficial. If Plotly Dash Enterprise could directly integrate with React Native for mobile applications, that would help me significantly.

Regarding Plotly Dash Enterprise's AI capabilities, governance, and security, since we are feeding Plotly with a lot of data, I think there is a security gap. I do not trust the AI too much because it could potentially share our data publicly. I am not familiar with how the encryption is happening, so I would not recommend the AI capabilities at this time.

The accuracy and reliability of the output of Plotly Dash Enterprise's AI capabilities depend on the model that the AI is using. I think accuracy is currently good, but reliability will depend on the data source that one is utilizing.

I have been using Plotly Dash Enterprise for approximately one year.

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Plotly Dash Enterprise is to create financial models, which I use for creating models that are mostly Python-based. A specific example of a financial model I built using Plotly Dash Enterprise was to create a model that would go through the revenues, the EBITDA, and the growth rates, based on the financials of a company, so that I can forecast the upcoming five-year revenue and EBITDA margins.

What is most valuable?

The most useful feature that I found helpful in Plotly Dash Enterprise was that it was very handy; I can resize and realign the models and dashboards that I have created on Plotly. I can resize it for my phone or mobile screens and change it accordingly.

The resizing and realigning feature for mobile screens has been very helpful, especially since I had to present it to our investors quite a few times, and while going to those meetings, it was very useful. I have used it more than ten times.

Plotly Dash Enterprise has made the creation of financial models and dashboards very handy and very easy for my organization, as I used to work on Power BI and Tableau, which used to take some time. After using Plotly Dash Enterprise, the time required to create such models and dashboards has reduced significantly.

In terms of hours, a model that was taking about eight to nine hours to build is now built in about three to four hours with Plotly Dash Enterprise. I think Plotly Dash Enterprise is providing everything that an analyst requires.

There is nothing about the features that needs improvement.

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Plotly Dash Enterprise involves using the Plotly Python library to create interactive plots, especially for data analysis workflows and machine learning workflows, and saving plots. In my thesis, I specifically used Plotly Dash Enterprise to save plots, particularly to visualize the distribution of embeddings created by machine learning models using UMAP-kind plots, and since it was interactive, I could turn categories on and off to analyze the model's learning.

What is most valuable?

Some of the best features Plotly Dash Enterprise offers are the ability to create a wide variety of plots, supporting plots from libraries such as Matplotlib and Seaborn, while also unlocking new kinds of interactive plots such as violin plots and box plots.

The main benefit Plotly Dash Enterprise provided for my thesis was the ability to save plots in HTML format, which is very useful for analyzing after the plots have been saved, not only for scatter plots but for all kinds of plots, especially when paired with widgets in Python to enhance functionality.

The interactivity of Plotly Dash Enterprise has benefited my work significantly; for instance, when I use UMAP with large datasets to analyze clusters, the ability to zoom in and enable or disable categories helps me understand that cluster much better compared to static plots.

Plotly Dash Enterprise has positively impacted my work by allowing me to look into the embeddings of my models and analyze the distribution of data inside the model, which has been instrumental in debugging my model.

In my thesis, Plotly Dash Enterprise helped reduce analysis time because it enabled tracking samples and understanding the reasons behind specific clusters of audio samples, insights that would have been challenging to derive from metrics alone.

What needs improvement?

I do not have any complaints about Plotly Dash Enterprise as a Python library, but I think it would be useful if there were a GUI where I could load data and analyze it.

For my work with UMAP, it would be beneficial to see not only the labels of the data points but also all kinds of details of the data points. Additionally, integrating Plotly with widget-based libraries could enhance interactivity further.

The reason I do not give it a perfect rating is that when dealing with thousands or millions of data points, it may take some time to render the plots, which could be improved through optimization or by using GPU.

As for performance when working with large datasets, while Plotly Dash Enterprise performs smoothly with fewer data points, I noticed some lag when working with larger data sets of hundreds of thousands of points, indicating it may benefit from running on GPU instead of CPU.

What is our primary use case?

My use has been focused on building and working with interactive dashboards for data visualization to make findings easier to communicate. I was not the main administrator, but I used it from the analytics and dashboard development side.

My main use case for Plotly Dash Enterprise comes from a very recent project where I work on multiple projects. In this recent project, I have been using Plotly Dash Enterprise to develop visualizations to communicate complex findings from my project work. In one project where we were building an emotional aware financial app, I was trying to gather user metrics from real subject data that I have been interviewing. This gave me different insights, and my main use case was creating those findings into an interactive dashboard for visualization and specifically for stakeholder communication.

Regarding my approach to building those dashboards for stakeholder communication, the raw analysis involved a lot of detailed metrics and Python-based processing, but the dashboard helps simplify the communication layer. I focused on making the visuals interactive and easy to navigate so stakeholders could compare conditions. I also tried to structure the dashboard around the actual research questions rather than just displaying charts. For example, instead of only showing metrics of the human subjects, I organized the views around questions such as how they interacted with the application or which interface areas really drove the human subjects to rely on them most. That made the discussion much more decision-focused and practical.

Plotly Dash Enterprise positively impacted my organization by improving how analysis was communicated and reducing the amount of manual reporting work and the time that was saved. Before using the dashboard workflow, a lot of time went into recreating separate static plots, updating slides, and generating new visualizations whenever stakeholders wanted to compare different conditions. For example, in one of our app developments, the findings remained very distributed across different parameters that we had in the app and that remained relatively limited. Some of the best features Plotly Dash Enterprise offers are the dashboard flexibility and the ability to stay within the Python ecosystem. One of the biggest advantages is that we could move directly from the Python-based analysis into an interactive dashboard workflow without completely changing tools. Since a lot of our data processing and research analysis already happened in Python, that integration was very useful. I also value the interactivity; instead of showing only static charts, I was able to communicate with stakeholders with more filtered conditions, comparing results and exploring patterns themselves. I would also say the sharing and centralized access was really valuable.

Sharing and synchronous access helped my team and stakeholders mainly for collaboration. Beyond using the dashboard, it was easy for people to look at different versions of the slides, the charts, and some outputs. With Plotly Dash Enterprise, the team could actually access the same dashboard and review the same version of the different analyses that we made. That reduced confusion and made meetings more efficient.

When I mention faster exploration of results, I would roughly estimate that it saved a meaningful amount of time during the review and reporting cycles. Previously, if stakeholders wanted a different comparison or another view of the data, we often had to manually generate new plots. With the interactive dashboard already in place, many of those follow-up requests became self-service. Stakeholders could filter conditions or compare results directly. I would estimate the workflow became roughly twenty to thirty percent faster for visualization, review preparation, and some of the exploratory analysis that we were doing.
