Alluxio originally known as Tachyon began as founder Haoyuan Li PhD research at UC Berkeley AMPLab to address data sharing challenges within the Apache Spark ecosystem. As the industry shifted toward hybrid and multi cloud architectures and AI driven workloads Alluxio evolved into a unified data access platform that bridges fragmented storage environments and accelerates data intensive applications across on premises and cloud infrastructure.
