Transit virtual private cloud (VPC)

Communications service providers (CSPs) want secure transit routing between geographically dispersed VPCs and remote networks. A Transit VPC can act as a global network transit center.

Cisco

CSPs require secure transit routing between VPCs and the public internet or private data centers. CSPs need this routing without the traditional expense of establishing physical presence in a data center or deploying network hardware. This Transit VPC design uses multiple instances of the Cisco Cloud Services Router (CSR) 1000v to simplify network management by reducing the number of connections required for multiple VPCs and remote networks.

Cisco Cloud Services Router features include:

Routing. Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Policy-Based Routing, IPv6, Virtual Route Forwarding Lite (VRF-Lite), Multicast, LISP, and Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE)

Security. Cisco IOS Zone-Based Firewall (ZBFW); access control list (ACL); authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA); RADIUS; and TACACS+

Traffic redirection. AppNav (to Cisco Wide Area Application Services [WAAS]) and Web Cache Communication Protocol (WCCP) application visibility, performance monitoring, and control: Quality of Service (QoS), AVC, and IP Service-Level Agreement (SLA)

Hybrid cloud connectivity. OTV, Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS), and Ethernet over MPLS (EoMPLS)
