AWS DataSync now supports transferring files to and from Amazon FSx for Windows File Server, providing you with a simple and automated way to accelerate the migration of your self-managed file systems to fully managed native Microsoft Windows file systems in AWS. With this new capability you can easily and securely transfer datasets containing hundreds of terabytes and millions of files to Amazon FSx for Windows File Server. This simplifies and accelerates the migration of home directories and Windows-based workloads that require file storage, such as CRM, ERP, and .NET applications.

AWS DataSync is an online data transfer service that provides you with a simple way to automate and accelerate copying data over the internet or AWS Direct Connect. Support for Amazon FSx for Windows File Server complements existing DataSync capabilities to transfer between Network File System (NFS) or Server Message Block (SMB) file servers, all Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) storage classes, and Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS). DataSync securely and seamlessly connects to your Amazon FSx Windows File Server file system, and copies your files together with file attributes and metadata. DataSync automates data transfers, including encryption, scheduling, monitoring, and data integrity validation.

This new DataSync capability can be used in all regions where Amazon FSx for Windows File Server is available. Learn more by reading the DataSync User Guide and DataSync website, and sign in to the AWS DataSync console to get started.
