Portworx Enterprise is the software-defined container storage platform built from the ground up for Kubernetes. By providing scale-out software defined container storage, data availability, data security and backup for Kubernetes-based applications running across Amazon regions, Portworx has helped dozens of Global 2000 companies such as Carrefour, Comcast, GE Digital, Lufthansa, T-Mobile, and SAIC run containerized data services in production.

    Highlights

    • Kubernetes-native storage: Turn Amazon EBS into container-granual storage for Kubernetes apps requring container-granular performance, high density, backup, security and data mobility capabilities.
    • Cross-AZ HA: Failover stateful Kubernetes applications like databases across AZs for true high availability.
    • Cut EBS costs in half: With thin-provisoning and automatic volume resizing provided by PX-Autopilot, stop over provisioning EBS and only pay for what you use.

    • Amazon EKS
    Container image

Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.

What do you like best about the product?
In the current digital transformation world, most of enterprises are looking for next-generation AI-enabled microservices. While there are multiple benefits of microservices, but having stateful applications with reliable data storage and persistence is still a concern. Portworx Enterprise simplifies this problem and pr by providing high-performance, reliable storage which can be used for both traditional and next gen storage solutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing much to complain about Portworx as it supports multiple clouds and underlying platform, but building industry-specific use cases and various compliance will help quickly position to multiple solutions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Portworx is helping us to run stateful applications seemlessly across two major public clouds along with on-premise environment. With this, we can backup and restore seamlessly and it supports AZ replication natively hence less administrator work and reduces efforts and money.

What do you like best about the product?
In K8s I can share data between pods across multiple zones, its been useful so far as it has worked on all cloud-native lifecycle. i mainly use this storage option when there is a need to run Cassandra and Kafa.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing as such interms of product as Portworx however, I find setting or configuring is a bit to complex and one can please work an make it user friendly please.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been using it by setting up a VPN from my onpremises infra to one of the well known cloud platform, I have'nt seen any disturbance till now works good and deletion takes time need to wait for long time according to me.

Best in Class for database and K8s stateful service storage

What do you like best about the product?
Provides the best solution which is scalable and to make we do not have single point of failure. Worked very well when we were looking for a single data management layer.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initially when we were exploring the tool, the customer support was not that great, which later improvised a lot. The time to test the tool should be more, as we had wide range of use cases and limited Devops resources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a multi cluster kubernetes setup and we wanted a tool which worked with k8s seamlessly and after lot of experimentation Portworx was definitely the right choice. Optimizing costs were one of the other factors which we had in mind and it was also checked.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides self-service storage access, and in that way, there is no dependency on any of the peers. One can do the work itself and not have to rely on others.
