AWS infrastructure charges for the running instance apply separately from the free software.

The Policy Server sets security policies from data collected by Network Sensors and Agents. It distributes those policies to sensors and agents and manages access control. It also connects to your user database and other security tools. The instance size you pick affects how much of this workload it can process.
