Conductor is a secure rendering platform that enables VFX, animation, and other media-centric studios to seamlessly offload rendering and simulation workloads to the cloud. Conductor easily integrates into workflows, and provides dynamic cost controls to ensure budgets and timelines stay on track.
Conductor is a secure cloud-based platform that enables VFX, VR/AR and animation studios to seamlessly offload rendering and simulation workloads to the public cloud. As the only rendering service that is dynamically scalable to meet the exact needs of even the largest studios, Conductor easily integrates into existing workflows, features an open architecture for customization, provides data insights and can implement controls over usage to ensure budgets and timelines stay on track.
Highlights
Turnkey rendering, with native DCC plug-ins and per-minute metered software licensing for all major software packages. No manual checkout of licenses or managing your own entitlements for cloud use.
Spot Discovery technology searches the vast array of AWS Regions to automatically find the low-cost instances you need for your budget. And Cost Limits allow you to control those budgets even further, with real-time actions when limits are hit.
Deadline integration available, which allows seamless cloud integration with your on-prem queue management system. Simply register your Deadline Server with Conductor and our Workers will update their status as if the render was running in-house.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
You pay by usage, billed per core/hour and metered to the minute. Compute charges depend on the instance family you select. CPU options include the c5 and m5 families. GPU options span the g4dn sizes (xlarge through 16xlarge) and p3 sizes (2xlarge, 8xlarge, 16xlarge). Each instance offers two purchasing modes: On-Demand for guaranteed capacity, or Spot for interruptible capacity. Larger instance sizes carry higher per-core rates. Storage is billed per GiB per month and prorated by the day. A separate software license charge covers metered rendering software licensing.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
When am I charged — does billing include jobs that are pending or waiting for machines?
You are charged only while a job runs. Jobs sitting in pending or syncing states do not accrue compute or license charges. Once machines become available and rendering starts, charges apply per second across instance, license, and service costs. Storage charges apply separately while data remains stored.
What is the difference between the On-Demand and Spot purchasing modes for each instance?
On-Demand gives you guaranteed capacity that runs without interruption. Spot uses interruptible capacity at a lower per-core rate, but jobs can be preempted if the provider reclaims the machines. Choose On-Demand for jobs you cannot risk interrupting, and Spot for less time-sensitive rendering work.
What does the software license charge cover, and do I bring my own licenses?
The software license charge covers metered rendering software licensing built into your usage. You do not bring your own licenses for supported packages. Metered agreements with major rendering software vendors are handled for you. If your renders rely on unsupported third-party software, contact the vendor about possible arrangements.
