What does one QCUH mean, and how is my compute usage counted?
QCUH stands for Qubole Compute Unit Hour. One QCU running for one hour equals one QCUH. Your tier sets a monthly ceiling on these hours. The platform shuts down idle clusters automatically, so you only accrue QCUH for compute that is actively running.
What drives my cost — the compute hours (QCUH) or the number of users?
Both metrics combine within one tier. Each tier bundles a monthly QCUH ceiling with a set user count. Compute-heavy analytics and machine learning workloads push you toward the QCUH limit. Large teams push you toward the user limit. Whichever ceiling you reach first determines the tier you need.
What happens if my compute usage or team grows beyond Tier 1?
Tier 1 covers up to 20,000 QCUH and 10 users per month. If your compute volume or headcount rises past those ceilings, you move to Tier 2, which covers up to 50,000 QCUH and 25 users. Both the compute ceiling and user count increase together at the higher tier.
