Overview
Jenkins is a free and open-source automation server. It helps to automate software development processes related to building, testing, and deploying, facilitating continuous integration and continuous delivery.
It is a server-based system that runs in servlet containers such as Apache Tomcat. It provides support of version control tools, including AccuRev, CVS, Subversion, Git, Mercurial, Perforce, ClearCase and RTC, and can execute Apache Ant, Apache Maven and sbt based projects as well as arbitrary shell scripts and Windows batch commands.
Jenkins helps to avoid breaking changes so that you can save time and ensure the delivery of high-quality software. Its web interface provides an easy way to manage and test your applications before taking them to production. This image bundles the latest versions of community-recommended plugins, including pipelines and Git integration.
Highlights
- User-friendly GUI enables simple configuration, management of plugins and automated tasks, and creation/deletion of users.
- Plugins are available for integrating Jenkins with most version control systems and bug databases. Many build tools are supported via their respective plugins. Plugins can also change the way Jenkins looks or add new functionality.
- Jenkins' security depends on two factors: access control and protection from external threats. Access control can be customized via two ways: user authentication and authorization.
