Overview
Jenkins is a free and open-source automation server. It helps to automate software development processes related to building, testing, and deploying, facilitating continuous integration and continuous delivery.
It is a server-based system that runs in servlet containers such as Apache Tomcat. It provides support of version control tools, including AccuRev, CVS, Subversion, Git, Mercurial, Perforce, ClearCase and RTC, and can execute Apache Ant, Apache Maven and sbt based projects as well as arbitrary shell scripts and Windows batch commands.
Jenkins helps to avoid breaking changes so that you can save time and ensure the delivery of high-quality software. Its web interface provides an easy way to manage and test your applications before taking them to production. This image bundles the latest versions of community-recommended plugins, including pipelines and Git integration.

You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you choose, with no commitment term. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type, so your rate scales with the compute resources you run. The t2 and t3/t3a families cover small, burstable workloads from nano up to 2xlarge sizes. The m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, and m5n families cover general-purpose workloads, scaling from large up to 24xlarge and bare-metal (metal) options. The software stays the same across all sizes; only the underlying compute capacity and hourly rate differ.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly unit is one running EC2 instance of the size you pick. It runs Windows Server 2019 with Jenkins preinstalled as a ready-to-run image. You get a CI/CD automation server that builds, tests, and deploys software projects. The rate covers the software; AWS infrastructure is billed separately.
Hourly software charges apply only while an instance runs. If you stop or power off the instance, the per-hour software charge stops accruing. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached volume may still apply even when the instance is off. The software meters running time only.
The software and features stay the same across every instance size. Your hourly rate changes to match the new instance type you launch. Moving from a small t2 or t3 size to a larger m5 or metal size raises the rate. You pay the rate tied to whatever size is running.
