Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run. Pricing scales with compute capacity, not features. The t2, t3, and t3a options are general-purpose instances for steady or burstable workloads. The m3 and m4 options are general-purpose instances suited to heavier or sustained demand. Within each family, larger sizes (such as large, xlarge, 2xlarge, and higher) cost more per hour as vCPU and memory increase. You choose the size matching your workload, and billing runs only while the instance operates.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each instance size maps to a set amount of vCPU and memory from the EC2 instance type you select. Larger sizes carry more compute capacity. You pay per hour for the running instance, so the size you pick sets your hourly rate.
Software charges meter running time only. A fully stopped or powered-off instance stops accruing hourly software fees. Note that stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, which are separate from the software hourly rate.
The hourly rate covers running the software. The vendor offers separate enterprise support plans with troubleshooting, severity-based response times, security updates, and a dedicated account manager. These support plans are arranged separately and are not part of the hourly instance charge shown here.
