GlusterFS 11.2.0 on Ubuntu 22.04 with Free maintenance support by ATH Infosystems.
GlusterFS - Scalable Distributed File System on AWS by ATH Infosystems
ATH Infosystems delivers a production-ready deployment of GlusterFS, an open-source, scalable distributed file system designed for high-capacity, high-throughput storage workloads. This solution aggregates disk resources from multiple nodes into a single global namespace, enabling horizontally scalable storage using standard server infrastructure.
Architecture Overview
GlusterFS operates as a scale-out file system where storage bricks from multiple servers are combined into volumes. Data distribution, replication, and availability are handled at the filesystem layer, providing a POSIX-compliant interface to applications while maintaining flexibility in backend storage design.
Distributed global namespace across cluster nodes
POSIX-compliant filesystem semantics
Client-server and peer-to-peer deployment models
Protocol access via NFS and SMB where required
Key Capabilities -
Scales to multi-petabyte storage deployments
Supports thousands of concurrent clients
Replica for high availability and fault tolerance
Allocations for capacity governance and multi-tenant environments
System Requirements - Recommended (Production / Scalable Deployments) -
Cluster Nodes- 3 or more for redundancy
CPU- 4+ vCPUs per node
Memory- 8-16 GiB RAM or higher for intensive workloads
Network- 1 Gbps or higher (bonded NICs recommended)
Storage- Dedicated block storage for bricks (XFS recommended)
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run. All 21 options deliver the same GlusterFS software on Ubuntu 26.04 with maintenance support. The only difference is the underlying compute. Options span general-purpose families (t2, t3, m3, m4, m5), compute-optimized families (c3, c4, c5), and memory-optimized families (r3, r4, r5). Within each family, hourly rates rise as you move to sizes with more CPU and memory, from nano and micro up through 2xlarge. Pick the instance that matches your workload, and your hourly charge follows that choice.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Am I charged for the software when an instance is stopped or powered off?
You are billed per running instance-hour. When you stop or power off an instance, the hourly software charge stops accruing. You may still owe separate AWS fees for attached storage, since those apply to the underlying resources, not the software licence.
How do I decide between the compute-optimized and memory-optimized instance options?
Compute-optimized families (c3, c4, c5) suit workloads that need more CPU per hour. Memory-optimized families (r3, r4, r5) suit workloads that hold more data in memory. General-purpose families (t2, t3, m3, m4, m5) balance both. Match your storage workload profile to the family, then pick a size.
What does the hourly rate cover besides the GlusterFS software itself?
The hourly rate covers the GlusterFS software running on Ubuntu 26.04 plus maintenance support from the vendor. Support includes version upgrades, security patches, and vulnerability handling. The rate does not include the underlying AWS compute or storage, which AWS bills you separately.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
