Self-hosted discovery for sensitive fields across PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Amazon S3, and files. Scan inside your AWS account or private network. Review evidence without sending source data to K&J.
K&J Sensitive Data Discovery is an independent, customer-hosted application from Kathy & Jason's Consultants LLC. It scans sources you authorize, classifies fields with built-in and custom rules, and shows where sampled values appear across datasets. Processing stays in your environment. There is no required K&J cloud, telemetry, or shared backend.
Connect PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Amazon S3 objects, or CSV/JSON/JSONL files. Operators review findings, add notes, export CSV evidence, and keep a local hash-chained audit trail. Duplicate visibility uses keyed fingerprints of sampled values, not raw records. Admin, operator, and viewer roles are built in.
This listing is a self-hosted container you operate. It is not a managed SaaS, a compliance certification, or a guarantee that every field in a source has been found. Supported formats, sample limits, and operational boundaries are documented at https://kathyjasonconsult.com/ and in the product operations guides.
Highlights
Runs in your AWS account, VPC, or container host. Each deployment has its own dashboard, API, encrypted source config, and audit trail. No other K&J service is required.
Scan PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Amazon S3, and structured files. Review field-level evidence, custom classification rules, and duplicate-value fingerprints without exporting source records to K&J.
Admin, operator, and viewer roles, durable jobs, schedules, and CSV exports. Start with an empty workspace. You choose sources, permissions, and what gets scanned.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before it ends, access to these entitlements will expire.

The full K&J data-governance suite in one production environment you operate: Sensitive Data Discovery, Data Access Auditor, Data Retention Enforcer, Data Classification Engine, and Data Residency Monitor. Each product still runs as its own independent container with its own data volume. Staging and backup copies of that environment are included. Choose this when you are deploying the suite in a single account or private network.
$200.00
Multi-environment suite
The full K&J suite licensed for production use across multiple AWS accounts or environments you operate. All five products are included. Each product remains an independent container and must not share state with another product. Choose this when Discovery, Access Auditor, Retention, Classification, and Residency must run in more than one account, region, or network.
$500.00
Enterprise suite
Organization-wide license for the full K&J suite (all five products), including multiple accounts and environments, enterprise deployment planning, and advanced support. Production, staging, and disaster-recovery copies of the suite in your organization are covered. Products remain independently deployed containers with separate data volumes.
These three contract options package the same five K&J products, scaled by deployment scope. The Standard suite covers one production environment in a single account or private network, with staging and backup copies included. The Multi-environment suite extends the license across multiple AWS accounts, regions, or networks you operate. The Enterprise suite adds organization-wide coverage, enterprise deployment planning, advanced support, and production, staging, and disaster-recovery copies. Across all three, each product runs as its own independent container with a separate data volume. You choose based on how many environments must run the suite.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What are the five products included in each suite license?
Every suite includes Sensitive Data Discovery, Data Access Auditor, Data Retention Enforcer, Data Classification Engine, and Data Residency Monitor. Each runs as its own container with a separate data volume. You deploy them in infrastructure you control, with no shared core platform required between products.
What triggers a move from the Standard suite to the Multi-environment suite?
The deployment scope drives this choice. The Standard suite licenses the products in one production environment within a single account or private network. The Multi-environment suite covers production use across multiple AWS accounts, regions, or networks you operate. You select based on how many environments must run the suite.
What does the Enterprise suite add beyond multi-environment coverage?
The Enterprise suite provides an organization-wide license covering multiple accounts and environments. It adds enterprise deployment planning and advanced support. It also covers production, staging, and disaster-recovery copies of the suite. Products still deploy as independent containers with separate data volumes.

Content disclaimer
Vendors are responsible for their product descriptions and other product content. AWS does not warrant that vendors' product descriptions or other product content are accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free.
Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.
Version release notes
First published container of the K&J Data Governance Suite. One image runs five isolated workspaces: Sensitive Data Discovery, Data Access Auditor, Data Retention Enforcer, Data Classification Engine, and Data Residency Monitor. Each workspace has its own login, database, encryption key, and audit trail. Retention source writes stay off until you enable them. This version is for customer-hosted evaluation in your AWS account. It is not a managed service and does not certify regulatory compliance.

Usage instructions
Subscribe in AWS Marketplace and wait until the status is Active. Then run the container on a host with Docker.
Create a first-boot password (12 to 256 characters) on that host:
Sign in with email admin@localhost and the password from $HOME/kj/admin_password. Each workspace has its own users and sessions. Sign in again if you switch workspaces. Change the password in Settings after the first login.
This is one process with five separate data directories under /data. Discovery, Access Auditor, Retention, Classification, and Residency do not share databases, keys, or logins.
For a first Discovery scan, copy a small CSV, JSON, or JSONL file into $HOME/kj/imports. The file must be readable by container user 10001. In Discovery open Connected sources, connect a files source, and set path to the filename only (for example customers.jsonl). Use Test, then Run. Wait for completed in Job history, then open Classification findings.
Access Auditor accepts normalized events with event_id, a timestamp that includes a timezone, actor, and dataset. Use a JSONL file under imports or POST to /auditor/api/events.
Retention supports local JSONL under $HOME/kj/retention-imports and PostgreSQL. Leave KJ_ALLOW_RETENTION_WRITES=false until the source is backed up. Approval mode requires an administrator to type APPROVE.
Classification uses the same content sources as Discovery. It does not write labels back into source databases.
Residency compares observed or declared locations (region, account, environment) with a policy you configure. Missing location data needs review.
For a public hostname, put TLS on a reverse proxy (ALB or Caddy) in front of 127.0.0.1:8080, keep the workspace path prefixes, and recreate the container with KJ_COOKIE_SECURE=true.
Stop with docker stop kj-suite. Start with docker start kj-suite. docker rm -v kj-suite and docker volume rm kj-suite-data delete all five workspaces.
Do not publish port 8080 on 0.0.0.0 without TLS. Do not put the admin password in the image or in git. Do not run more than one replica on the same volume. Findings and alerts are for review, not a compliance certificate.
