NICE DCV is a high performance remote streaming protocol that enables user to securely access remote desktop or application sessions, including 3D graphics applications hosted on servers with high-performance GPUs.
The QUIC UDP-based transport protocol enables users to run high frame rate, highly dynamic workloads, such as gaming, media workloads experiencing fluid and responsive streaming quality, especially under sub-optimal network conditions.

NICE DCV offers end users a wide range of client devices, including native clients for Windows, Linux, and MacOS operating systems. Native clients support up to 4 monitors at 4K resolution each and the Windows client also supports USB redirection for 3D mice and USB storage devices. In addition, NICE DCV helps customers with remote Linux desktops to reduce session costs by supporting multiple Linux sessions from a single high performance server.

What do I get for each hourly rate, and what does the instance size determine?
Each hourly rate covers the software on a Windows GPU desktop running NVIDIA GRID drivers on a specific EC2 instance. The instance size sets the GPU count, CPU cores, and memory. Larger sizes like 48xlarge give more resources; xlarge sizes give less. You pick the size matching your workload.
Am I charged the hourly software fee when the instance is stopped?
The software fee meters running time. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You are billed only for the hours the instance runs. Note that stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes, which are billed by AWS, not the software.
Does the software license depend on named users, and how are concurrent desktops handled?
The license is not tied to named users. It is based on concurrent desktops created and managed through a floating license manager. You can install the server where you like and create desktops as needed. On Marketplace, you pay the hourly software rate per running instance regardless of the number of named users.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Make sure the instance security groups allow inbound traffic to TCP and UDP port 8443.
Start the NICE DCV client (Optionally click "Connection Settings" -> Click "Protocol" -> Select Automatic or QUIC in the pulldown menu -> Click "OK")
Connect to your remote machine by the entering your <public_dns> or external IP address in the address field.
Authenticate using username and password you can find in the EC2 console when clicking the "Connect" option of the instance.
You can also switch to the standard TCP based DCV protocol in step 3) above to compare performance of both protocols and to leverage the best protocol for your use case. In case you are upgrading from a previous AMI version please note that a new DCV client available as well.
