NICE DCV is a high performance remote streaming protocol that enables user to securely access remote desktop or application sessions, including 3D graphics applications hosted on servers with high-performance GPUs.
The QUIC UDP-based transport protocol enables users to run high frame rate, highly dynamic workloads, such as gaming, media workloads experiencing fluid and responsive streaming quality, especially under sub-optimal network conditions.
NVIDIA GRID drivers are pre-installed for best performance and optimally smooth user experience on high-end NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs.
NICE DCV offers end users a wide range of client devices, including native clients for Windows, Linux, and MacOS operating systems. Native clients support up to 4 monitors at 4K resolution each and the Windows client also supports USB redirection for 3D mice and USB storage devices. In addition, NICE DCV helps customers with remote Linux desktops to reduce session costs by supporting multiple Linux sessions from a single high performance server.
On AWS, NICE DCV provides the streaming protocol e.g. used by Amazon Nimble Studio, Amazon Appstream 2.0 and AWS RoboMaker.

The six options map to instance sizes in the g7e family: g7e.2xlarge, g7e.4xlarge, g7e.8xlarge, g7e.12xlarge, g7e.24xlarge, and g7e.48xlarge. Each size adds more CPU, memory, and GPU capacity, so the hourly rate scales with the size you select. You pick one size based on your workload; there are no upfront commitments or fixed terms. You are billed only for the hours the instance runs.

What does one hour of billing include for these g7e desktop options?
One hour covers running one Windows 3D remote desktop on your chosen g7e instance size. Each size bundles a set amount of CPU, memory, and GPU capacity. You are billed per hour the instance runs. Larger sizes carry higher hourly rates because they include more compute and GPU resources.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Underlying AWS storage and other resource fees may still apply for stopped instances, but the software licence meters running hours only.
How is the software licensed, and does the price depend on the number of users?
Billing is tied to the running instance-hours of your chosen g7e size, not to named users. You can create remote desktop sessions as needed on the instance. The GPU and CPU capacity of the size you pick determines how many concurrent sessions it can support.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Make sure the instance security groups allow inbound traffic to TCP and UDP port 8443.
Start the NICE DCV client (Optionally click "Connection Settings" -> Click "Protocol" -> Select Automatic or QUIC in the pulldown menu -> Click "OK")
Connect to your remote machine by the entering your <public_dns> or external IP address in the address field. Authenticate using username Administrator and password you can find in the EC2 console when clicking the "Connect" option of the instance.
You can also switch to the standard TCP based DCV protocol in step 3) above to compare performance of both protocols and to leverage the best protocol for your use case. In case you are upgrading from a previous AMI version please note that a new DCV client is available as well.
